Vin and Maree is a very typically French restaurant specializing in sea food. It has a very friendly atmosphere and somewhat old fashion décor. My party of 3 were offered complimentary scallops to set with and then we all had the sole meuniere (off the bone) which was light, very fresh and grilled to perfection.Afterwards I can recommend the Souffle Grand Marnier for a wonderful light and fluffy but totally satisfying... I was looking for a restaurant for dinner near the eiffel tower without having to pay the prices of the tourist traps.
Have mercy on us, poor Americans who have gone before reading criticism. we found the comfortable place with a friendly staff and generous portions of good seafood.
We were so hungry that we ate all the oysters before thinking about taking them in pictures. So the oysters were delicious, I have to say that it was very good.
Svetlana, my siberian friend, was craving for oysters, and fresh fish.... the first idea that came to my mind was this very reasonably priced seafood restaurant ( especially if you reserve via LaFourchette, for 20 to 40 % discount !!! ). Comfortable tables, nice lighting ambiance, not too noisy, .The service is efficient, and the lady in charge is of excellent advice for the wines...The oysters were superb, especially the Irish sweet salty savoury whitish meaty specimen. But also the Gilardeau N.2, and the fines N.3I could not resist the crispy Croustillants de gambas which quickly disappeared...Svetlana went for a whole grilled seabass with pesto dressing, perfectly cooked.the 2 other guests had the solettes meunière, and the marmite de St Jacques lutée( scallops and langoustines cooked in a pot sealed with a puff pastry cover, in a bisque de homard !!!!A bottle of fruity aromatic QUINCY was in good harmony. We hardly could reach the dessert dilemna. And finally shared a crème brûlée and a Millefeuille stuffed with vanilla cream. Both were...good but not outstanding. The Chef is not a pâtissier ?It was midnight when we thought it was time to leave, as we were the last table still chatting.I can only recommend to try this restaurant, when you are nearby Montparnasse.
I already put a review on TA, but I was asked to complete my draft. When I clicked on the link, everyhting was blank. I want to recommend this restaurant very highly, but am not ready to start all over again on another review if TA lost my first one. Just take my word - try it and you won't be disappointed.
