It's the first time for us and we loved the restaurant. I booked an 11 table for a holiday dinner at the restaurant last night. Everything is perfect: the kitchen, the atmosphere (slower to chat, the service (super! The menu price (€49 is correct with rather generous portions. We all took the menu, 4 bottles of good wines and 1 bottle of champagne. In total €75/persons reasonable price! We all enjoyed the great choice of dessert!
I was accustomed to this restaurant that I found quite excellent, but I was disappointed to see in it recently returning that the price of the Vatel menu is set at 7€, in addition to the fact that the selection of cheeses has been removed. Also, more butter to accompany the bread, which is a pity. Cheaper with an entire service in less! It gets less interesting. It's still very good and the experience is very appreciable, but it's worth less.
The concept is a menu developed and served by the students of the VATEL school. The presentation of the dishes could be finer but it's good. La farandole des desserts un must ! Really a lot of choice. The staff is very welcoming!
Dinner at the Vatel restaurant, the hotel school’s training restaurant. Nice welcome, well decorated restaurant. The tableware is elegant. The cutlery has not been vinegared so there are water stains. The cuisine is of high quality, the dishes are copious, well prepared, and the cooking is well done. The downside of the meal is the service. Full room with students who do not appear to be supervised by table. No request for food allergies from the table, errors in the serving of dishes, water, wine, clearing worthy of a canteen by taking the plate, then the cutlery over the customers' arms and putting the cutlery anyhow on the cleared plate... so impossible to take more than two etc... A room manager who did not come to our table of 8 people throughout the dinner. Repeated service errors are neither seen nor corrected. A short questionnaire at the end of the meal or sending it by e-mail would be a good thing to bring the customer's perspective to the training of young students, in order to guide them towards excellence. What we expect from a hotel school.
