Since then, I always went there whenever I v... read more I used to like this restaurant (one on Blvd. St. Germains des Pres going back to 1998 when I used to live in Paris. Since then, I always went there whenever I visited Paris. They closed this location several years ago, so we started to go to the one on Montparnasse. May 2022, my husband sent me to Paris so I can meet my girlfriends and enjoy after having to deal with many stresses in our life. On Sunday, I went there to have lunch. I walked very fast and got there around 2:45 pm. But, since they close at 3 pm, did not serve me. I guess it is understandable. That evening I went back with my German friend who can look like a Parisian, so this server (I did not get his name, so I am trying to describe him skinny, medium height from North African heritage. Has long forehead receding? sat us inside. Usually, they sit tourist in front section by the window. I don 't know why he was ticked off. Is it because he found out we were not French? I think also my friend and I (Asian woman were too nice and he thought he could treat us badly. The service was slow, so we motioned to let him know that we were ready to order. I guess that was forbidden. He took order and he brought them all so quickly to make a point. And he asked L 'addition? meaning do you want the bill too? I laughed thinking he was joking. The, I realized that he was being sarcastic. He must have brought our foods without properly heating. Everything was lukewarm. I asked why he did not start the little flame to heat the chicken. The flame holder under our chicken was not lit. When I saw other table, I see smoke coming out of their foods but not ours. He refused to do it saying our foods were hot. Later, I asked again, he finally lit the flame for the stand that was holding chicken platter. Our soup was not warm, so we switched and put the soup bowl (metal bowl, same metal as the chicken platter . He scolded us (very rudely saying that it was dangerous. But, chicken platter is not? I saw older traditional tall French waiter serving the tourist section (front window and wished that he was our waiter. I don 't know why we did not talk to the manager. When it was time to settle the bill. Suddenly, he was nicer and even said thank you. In hindsight, I don 't know why we did not walk out. We were tired and it was late 9 pm... I will never go back. Not only the service was so rude and terrible. The couscous was not good any more. The soup did not taste good any more. Something changed. It was the last night for my friend in Paris but we did not let the rude waiter ruin our dinner.
