Cobadonga Inn

Cobadonga Inn
3.9 / 5 (119 reviews)

Description

Cobadonga in Palapag mixes an English‑country–inn vibe with Filipino fare, generous portions and budget-friendly prices. The sunken-ship–inspired interior, cold beer, live music and playful extras like table tennis create a cozy, memorable setting, and many praise attentive, professional staff and clean facilities. The menu is somewhat limited, and while most encounters are warm, there are reports of brusque family members and inconsistent service, so expect great food and atmosphere but occasional hospitality bumps.

The food was excellent! Mr. Adrian, the owner, was friendly and accommodating, as was his son, James. The interior design concept, inspired by the sunken cruise ship named Cobadonga, was really impressive (special thanks to Kuya Jeff Amaro for the fascinating information). You can expect to enjoy a dining experience that combines a British-like atmosphere with delicious Filipino cuisine.

I would definitely choose this place for my next visit to Samar. It's a great recommendation if you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Manila. My friends and I stayed for a few nights, and I want to commend the owner's son (I can't remember his name) for his outstanding service. Despite being half British, he exemplified true hospitality! The staff are all very nice and professional. Overall, it's a great hotel with excellent staff!

I would recommend steering clear of this inn. When we arrived, we had a pleasant interaction with the innkeeper's son, but the daughter, who handles the bookkeeping, gave us a sly smirk for no obvious reason. It left a rather negative impression.

Its been my 4th day here in my province, Northern Samar. But wait, I wanna share somethin while catching up with my friend Mercy she told me about this restaurant here in our hometown--Palapag. Going back then, I think this is already operating and offering common dishes like Pancit, Fried Chicken, Burger etc. Now, the menu I think are still the same or had some changes already. Anyway, I 'd like to write a review about this stand-alone food house, mainly because it is one of the Palapag 's pride. 1. Ambiance, the facade is seem to be like a preserved old house, knowing that Palapag is one of the oldest town in Samar Island, the estblishment is a bit renovated and twisted to be a contemporary yet classic style. But if you go inside, you will be amazed by the interior design with an international touch ambiance. The restroom, infairness, it is clean and smells good(not kidding). I like the table tennis as well, for its purpose is to let people play while waiting their orders. Feels like you 're in a high end resturant offering expensive delish food. Though there 's an absence of the electric power during that time, it does not affect the ambiance and never gets warm. (Electric fan make it up though) 2. Service, obviously this is just a typical but classy food house where there is no service charge, and not offering senior citizen discounts. But what made us impressed was the attentiveness of those foreigner guys serving (the owner actually)..although they 're emotionless..lol, 'coz you can 't see them smiling while entertaining and talking to you, services was delivered in a professional way. Thumbs up! 3. Food, we have ordered Mixed Pancit/Bam-e, Burger and Chicken. We have just waited for 10 to 15mins, perfect still on standard waiting time.. Burger was served first, i think there ' no something special about this since it was just a simple burger with common patty and 2 different color mayonaise without vegies but the serving was quite big. They can still improve with its quality.. Next served was Pancit then after a while there you go the Chicken, we 're just 2 but I am sure we can 't finish those haha we 're both on a diet..considering price value that you would not regret because of the serving size is perfect for 2 to 4pax I think.. Pancit was not dry, good taste same with chicken tender and tasty. #4starsratingfornow #wheninPALAPAG #ProudPalapagnonHere

I was not expecting to find such an outlandish but cozy place in palapag, the ambiance was perfect, as if you are transported to an english country inn, the food is an A+ too, very budget friendly but they offer limit menu. I wish we had a place like this in Catarman. love it!!
