Before I arrived at Lamma Island, I had heard about this restaurant and was excited to try their tofu pudding. It exceeded my expectations and was priced at only $12HKD. View all feedback.
What Ryecatcher doesn't like about Ah Por Tofu Fa:
I walked past this stand several times before realizing they sold vegan food. They offer soy milk or bean curd, either cold or hot, with what looks like watery maple syrup, though it could be something else. It's simple but cheap - a bowl of curd costs 12 HKD and is a decent portion. The stand doesn't seem very clean, but it has a charming picnic vibe. The food is served by a friendly elderly lady. Simple dish to enjoy especially for foreigners, though also very popular among local tourist. Grab a seat under the tree for cooler experience. The place is however close to a food stall selling other Hong Kong street (non-vegan) food e.g. fish balls and pig skins. Take note if you wish to avoid these in sight. Take-away of the To Fu Fa is possible.
This is a really simple place which just has tofu for $HK 10. It's ok fora bit of a tofu snack, though in summer it is very hot as it is outdoors and I guess it would be really cold in winter. Seats are basic, but for $10, it's worth a pause. Popular with Lamma locals.
This is a little snack cart with some dirty tables and plastic chairs, on the beach, with only one dish on offer. A grim faced little old lady sells you silky soft tofu in a bowl, your choice hot or cold, with sweet hot syrup poured on top. It's a beautiful walk there, about 2 miles from Sok Kwu Wan ferry, or about a mile from Yung Shue Wan ferry.
Do not expect cordon bleu. family stand that sells a beautiful snack in shade. friendly and funny,
Simple choice of tofu dessert and or soya milk. Very inexpensive. Its a useful pit stops on the Lamma Island family Walk.
