Consistently good eating, but always from bad waiting employees. our waitress was often loud and brash and not what they would expect in such a restaurant. she... read more Consistently good eating, but always from bad waiting employees. our waitress was often loud and brash and not what they would expect in such a restaurant. she wasn't her mask right, and when we asked for the bill, she sighed and, terrified that we wanted to share the bill between the group. we had a similar underwhelming experience a few weeks ago with a male waiter who took 25 minutes to produce a bottled wine and didn't bring the starter. he could also be heard with the chief child of the guests fighting. I feel that the poor front of the home service greatly overshadowed the good quality food.

I am impressed by the carelessness that they and their team take to be on time, and use them biodegradable containers that carry out the meal hot, fresh and easy in a paper bag. charries: spring rolls, lamb pops, caesar salad, beef burger w fries, jambalaya, thai garnelen curry.

This re... read more I have been visiting Vons Bistro regularly since the pandemic forced a change of operations at both Vons and its related (upstairs) restaurant Flippers. This review is for the most part, an update on both in the Covid era. Since the original shutdown, Vons and...Flippers have kept their kitchens open, each offering a shorter takeout menu mainly featuring their respective best items, and allowing customers to mix and match bistro and seafood items in their orders. Both have been open to dine in customers during periods allowed by the provincial government, although at this time only takeout service and patio service is permitted. Take out meals for both restaurants are picked up at Vons. Despite the need to reduce staff during this period, service is easy and excellent. Vons is a very attractive bistro, and is worth a little rubber necking when picking up orders. Vons also offers a small patio for outside dining. My favorite meal at Vons is lamb pops spicy lamb chops accompanied with an attractive mountain of Greek salad very satisfying. It is at its best when it is allowed to be served in the restaurant or patio, but travels well for take out. My equivalent go to dish at Flippers is salmon sliders flavorful salmon paddies on a small bun. A few fries with the sliders never hurts. Many old favorites remain available, and can be explored both on the websites for these restaurants, and with the servers when calling in. Please support our local restaurants!

Lovely atmosphere and the food is of excellent quality for an excellent price. Portion size was perfect, even had to take home leftovers, and the flavours clearly indicated that the chef cares deeply about providing a good end result. This place is everything you're looking for.

The atmosphere is classy, calm and cozy, just people talking to each other. There is seating at the tables or bars up and downstairs. “Flippers” is upstairs and the seafood is available there, plus the regular menu. The regular menu is on the main floor, and it is gourmet and wonderful! Von’s and Flippers are very popular for lunch and dinner. The weekend brunch is popular too. Go early!Vegetarian options: I noticed that there are delicious vegetarian choices available.Dietary restrictions: I’m fairly sure that you would be accommodated. Karyn the owner wants everyone to be happy. She’s been in business forever after all, which speaks volumes.Parking: After 5:30 Bank Street parking is free, sometimes on the same Bank Street block as this restaurant. I’ve always found spots close by, as I go earlier rather than late!Wheelchair accessibility: No problem! The floor is level on the main floor and there is an elevator, (and staircase too), to Flippers upstairs!
