What May Bergstrom doesn't like about Local Heroes:
food and staff were good but the pop should have been free refills , no excuse to do that when you get free coffee refills at breakfast. The pop is only a couple cents per glass View all feedback.
I usually come to this restaurant for breakfast when I'm home alone on the weekend. It's easier than cooking for one and the food and service are generally good. Today, if this had been my first visit, I doubt I would return. When I arrived,...More
Had breakfast at Local Hero's, bacon, eggs, toast, now depending on the breakfast for a buck or two cheaper you can get a hashbrown instead of homefries. The hashbrown was super greasy, nasty and cold. I asked the waitress why they would even serve hashbrowns like that and she said it's so much cheaper than homefries. Avoid the hashbrowns like the plague, they shouldn't even be on the menu. They jack up their prices on the weekends.
Me and my girlfriend went for dinner and nobody even showed us to a table we were told to sit anywhere. After 10 minutes of nobody coming over to check on us I decided to go get my own menus. We are patiently waiting for waitress to come over with menus closed but they seem to all be too busy flirting with the old drunk men. After letting a waitress know that we are ready to take an order she proceeded to go to the manager and pointed at us and the both of them just stared for a min tha went on chatting. I proceeded to wait about five more minutes then I had enough and left. When you have kids running a business this is what happens.I been going there for years and it's been getting worse.I will never bring my business back there until I'm old and need a waitress too.
Nice decor and location - service initially started off impressively and then rapidly declined - took over 45 mins to get our lunch (and it wasn't busy). At the half hour point, we questioned the status when we saw orders placed after ours come out - apparently it takes extra time to make the lunch special, club sandwiches and fries. We let our waitress know that we were on a short timeline - asked for the bill when our food was served only to have our waitress wander by a few times without bringing the bill - had to go up to the bar and interrupt chit chat to finally get our bill - only time I have ever left a $.02 tip. No plans on returning...
As my mother-in-law used to live at the other side of Baseline Road, I've been coming here for some 25 years. And I live in the Netherlands...The food is, without exception, the best that Canadian Kitchen has to offer: full breakfasts that can keep you going in winter.Burgers to die for and chicken wings to kill for. And well-priced beers to maim for.
