While visiting the city we had hoped to have a quiet romantic night out with excellent food & drinks, and that's exactly what we got! We nestled into a booth & had the most attentive server who steered us in the right direction regarding the bf's celiac diet requirements. We split the roasted cauliflower & corn apps. They were both perfection. So beautifully presented, with so many flavours & textures. For mains we ordered the steak which was baseball sized & melted in your mouth, and the roasted chicken which was so juicy & full of flavour. Both paired well with an excellent Pinot. Dessert was a light & creamy orange custard that reminded the bf of childhood Christmases.Portions were a bit small considering the price, but that is the only slight negative I could possibly think of. We had an absolute perfect night!
We had the pleasure of dining at the Rowan last night. We can all say that we enjoyed the food and there were unique flavors and tastes with each dish. We shared the beet fritters and grilled cauliflower salad. The beet fritter were ok on their own but you definitely needed to add the condiment ...sauce, olives and the especially the mint to enjoy the dish. Two of us had the trout and my husband ordered the pork pie. The trout was perfect. It just melted in your mouth with each bite. There was a red pepper sauce with a bit of a bite. The grilled fennel was delicious and perfectly cooked. We both raved about the entire dish. My husband was excited about the pork pie but I don't think it met his expectations. He would have rather had roasted veggies rather than the pickled ones. Presentation was very nice.We finished off with the chocolate tart. It was not too sweet. The almond brittle was a nice touch.Over all we had a great evening and encourage others to try it out. The atmosphere is casual , a gastropub feeling. ENJOY!!!
We had the pleasure of dining on Sunday evening with family while visiting Ottawa! While the decor was rather understated, the dishes were quite innovative and delicious! Kudos to the chef for his success and special thanks to our marvellous waiter! I wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm passing through Ottawa.
We had a fantastic brunch at this restaurant on Sunday. We were pleased with the vegetarian options on the menu, and everyone at our table enjoyed the taste and quality of the food. The service was also excellent, with our waiter going out of his way to serve two of us in French. This restaurant stands out as a higher-quality option compared to other nearby restaurants at Lansdowne Park. It is definitely worth taking a few extra steps up Bank Street to dine here.
I had my birthday brunch at this restaurant today. While Fraser Cafe is still my favorite, this place is awesome too. I really enjoyed my hot chocolate and French toast. The kitchen even added a candle to it, which was a nice touch. Our server, Duncan, was fantastic. Thank you for the delicious food and great service. I will definitely be returning soon.
