What User doesn't like about The Pomeroy House:
This restaurant serves very nice food, has a pleasant wait staff and a good wine list. However, the tables are less than 8 inches apart, the ceilings very high and echoey and it seems to attract patrons who like to yell at each other rather than have civilized discussion. My ears rang for a few hours after leaving and I will never go back. View all feedback.
Had a wonderful in-house smoked salmon lasagna and primavera - the wait staff broke a glass of wine on us (lol) and quickly replenished - these things happen! In all, a solid 9 out of 10. Hey, a broken glass is good luck in some cultures! Try it, a superb lasagna in a charming environment. Appetizer, wine, two mains - $90 and we had a $50 coupon. A delightful date night on a Wednesday night.
Started with the meatball appetizer, the meat was tasteless, absolutely no seasoning. The sauce was way too tangy and tasted like it came right out of a can. My main course was the chicken parm...the chicken was so over cooked that I would have needed a steak knife to eat it. The pasta, while well cooked, was covered with a bland watery sauce. Very disappointed in what is clearly an over hyped restaurant. I won't be a repeat customer.
They have excellent food, and this is one of their locations in the Ottawa area. I liked the unique decor of ths reastaurant. I had the Pene Pasquale and it was excellent. Wine selection is good.
First time dining at Fratelli's. Wanted to try this place for a while and to support local business, so for our wedding anniversary we made dinner reservations at their Westboro location. We were greeted warmly and promptly shown to our table. We looked through their menu but their dinner specials caught our eyes...1) Antipasti: Fried Smelt with Spicy Tomato Sauce, 2) Mushroom Risotto and 3) Osso Bucco with veg and polenta. So we order the specials plus the Sambuca Shrimp antipasti and a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Sandbanks Winery. Our 8 year old was with us and she ordered the kid's pepperoni pizza. The antipasti arrives! The Sambuca Shrimp was so delicious we used the bread to soak up the creamy sauce. However the Fried Smelt was less than desirable, it was fishy tasting and cold. SPECIAL #1 = 1 STRICK OUT #1Now for my main. I taste the risotto...hmm it's dry and some crunchy bits. Mabye the second bite will be better...nope still dry and still crunchy. The waitress comes by to see how things are tasting. I told her about my risotto. She was shocked, apologized and offered to get me another one or something else. I said thanks but I'll share my daughter's pizza. SPECIAL #2 = STRICK OUT #2My wife now cuts into her osso bucco...cut with a knife? Shouldn't it be fall of the bone tender with your fork! OK so how does it taste? Sorry she couldn't talk, had to chew..chew...and chew. Not impressed so she just ate the roasted veggies. To confirm I tried some of osso bucco...it was tough to cut and chew! The bus boy came to pick up the plates and told him about the disappointment and he relayed this to the kitchen. He then asked if we wanted a box for the pizza...to which I told him no because that was my dinner because the risotto I order was also a disappointment! SPECIAL #3 = STRICK OUT #3Time to end the evening. The service was great but the food was a disappointment. The only thing work eating was the Sambuca Shrimp (although over priced @ $15 for 4 shrimps) and the bottle of wine (only because they didn't make it!). The waitress didn't charge us for the risotto (only had 2 bites) and took 25% off the osso buco...I didn't complain to them about the fried smelt, but in hindsight I should have!Well 3 Specials = 3 STRIKE OUTS = FIRST AND LAST TIME EATING HERE!
My son and I went to this place for the first time The waitress was polite friendly and helpfull The place is small and not appealing. The noise factor is very bad because of the acoustics. They have a hardwood floor which does not help in that regard. My lasagna was good but over priced at $18.50 The serving should have been bigger. The ceasar salad was very good which comes with the meal and a few slices of bread The veal parmigiani on the menu is priced at $27.00 Would not go back
