We found Swiss Chalet last year whilst in St John's and we found it ideal for our Daughters who wanted a meal that didn't have to involve chips, we were looking for a reasonable price and we found it here. The service at this Swiss Chalet was terrific the lady who served us was very busy but still had time to chat to us and made us feel very welcome. We ordered the chicken, my Daughter and I paid extra for white meat... View all feedback.

We went as a hockey team on Saturday when they first opened. Total disappointment as the wait staff had no clue on how to handle 40 people. Most of the kids couldn't understand the wait staff and both were getting frustrated. The Meals didn't come out in order so some people ate and had to wait while the others ate or waited for their food. I had order a wrap with fries and side of soup. I did receive the wrap and fr... My father in-law decided to take us out for lunch at Swiss Chalet this past weekend. We arrived and it was somewhat busy but there were NO wait staff in sight or a hostess. We waited 15 minutes by the front door until I found a waitress and asked her to seat us.....there was no smile, no greeting just a bad snarky attitude like how dare we disturb her !After we were seated it took us about 15 minutes to get water for our table and a tea, we then ordered and it was another 20 minutes to get our meals. The conditions of the tables in the place there were not cleaned after people left was terrible, none were being cleared etc......It was obvious that there was a lack of staff and I get the feeling the owner preferred it that way - CHEAP.My advice pick another restaurant, obviously based on other peoples reviews they do not want to find ways to improve their service as it is the same issue !! Terrible Management.
Although we waited awhile to be seated, the service picked up from there. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I tried the chicken pot pie for the first time and it was hearty, with huge chunks of chicken. My father tried the roast beef and declared that he would definitely order that again. The one thing we don't like about this location, is that we have to walk so far from the parking lot in the back to the entrance at the front of the restaurant, especially on a windy day. This place is frequented by a lot of seniors and it's a difficult walk in inclement weather. Otherwise, the food is good, service is good, and the prices are good.

The service at this Swiss Chalet was terrific the lady who served us was very busy but still had time to chat to us and made us feel very welcome. We ordered the chicken, my Daughter and I paid extra for white meat and it is worth it, the meal came with a jacket potato, bread roll and coleslaw. My youngest Daughter ordered ribs which looked great. Unlimited soft drinks including our favourite root beer and an unusual dessert of a chocolate bar, you can't go wrong.
Sunday evening, May 21, my wife, adult son and myself thought we'd enjoy a nice Swiss Chalet supper. We'd heard about the fried chicken and thought, let's try that!My wife has mobility problems, MS, and we were surprised that the parking lot is at the back of the building and you have to walk all the way around to the front to enter. Now to be fair, we did learn later that through the take out door you can access the main dining room, but then you'd have to go to the front to be seated. So, FAIL, for accessibility. Double fail due to the slipperiness of the flooring. In the washrooms, it's incredibly slick. We were seated off by ourselves and I had a bad feeling about never seeing our server, and that came true. We waited fifteen minutes before our server came by. We order sodas and appetizer and mains. The original sodas came relatively quickly. Not really. Anyway, it was 31 minutes later before we were able to order refills. Our server came by prior to that and dropped the appetizer platter and was GONE! Amazing. My son finally had to get up and look for her. She was two tables over from us sorting her bills instead of serving her customers. Another FAIL.Finally our meals came. Mine was WRONG. The sides were totally wrong. I'd asked for two sides of the jalepeno mashed potatoes. What I got was french fries and the white cheese macaroni (which is nasty) and no coleslaw. Our server looked at me and asked if everything was alright, but before I could answer she was GONE! We waved her down and I pointed out that the order was wrong. She was apologetic (sometimes you can apologize too much) as she had been apologizing during our entire visit. She replaced the sides and brought the missing coleslaw. But really, the food was fine, but the errors and hassles spoiled the evening. I still tipped 15% which made the bill almost $96! for three people it sure seemed pricey. And the men's bathroom - nasty. The garbage pail was overflowing onto the floor. See image below!!After reading other ratings on this restaurant, we should never have come here.

The Meals didn't come out in order so some people ate and had to wait while the others ate or waited for their food. I had order a wrap with fries and side of soup. I did receive the wrap and fries but it was warm. When I told the waitress she said she would fix it. If I waited for her to come back I would be still there. NO SOUP arrived. Needless to say it took 2 hrs to get everyone served and out. Glad we had 3 hrs between gamesWon't be returning
