Second Cup - Ottawa

I can stay and do my homework while sipping on some of their amazing hot chocolate so it is really impressive.

'It's nothing out of the ordinary' was what my Canadian friends said when I went in to have my first Second Cup. True though, the coffee is nothing that I've never had. But it's not at all that bad because the pastries are delicious, their red velvet cupcake is spot-on. For me, it may not be Starbucks or Costa, but it'll do.

Second Cup is a Canadian coffee shop chain, found in most major cities and towns. Like Starbucks, it is now being challenged by many independents, in Ottawa, Toronto and elsewhere. It is reliable, and its specialty coffees and teas, including my favourite, Macha Latte, are usually good. Good muffins, wraps and other light eats, and friendly, efficient staff. The Rideau Centre Second Cup has no seating, but it is very close to a large seating area for an extensive food court.
