What Dolores Wilkinson doesn't like about Mr B's-March House Restaurant:
probably the rude server I still have to experience. we pretended that Amaros could take food allergies and they said absolutely. if we had eaten there, my daughter would have landed in the hospital. uninterested, grim and rude fellow workers. we're in with my daughter. View all feedback.
Great food in a comfortable environment. I had the manicotti fiorentina and it was delicious. Took the wife, the kids and grandkids on a Wednesday evening. We were never rushed. I even had dessert: cheesecake with blueberries. Wonderful. The decor felt very New York Little Italy (my hometown . There 's plenty of parking in the rear of the strip of stores. Dress is casual but reservations is a smart idea.
Mr. B 's is a well known spot, particularly to those living in the South Keys area. It is located in the plaza right beside the Southway Hotel. Apparently it 's been around forever . From friends and other reviews, I heard that the outside of the restaurant is old and bit rundown, but that the inside is fine and the food is good. I 've been told the inside looks exactly the same as it always has, so it definitely needs some updating, but it 's clean and quaint. I ate here last night with a large group for a birthday party. The server did a great job at getting all of our orders and bills right, even though we played musical chairs throughout the night. We ordered drinks first and got some bread at the table right after we placed our appetizer/dinner orders. Plenty of fresh bread as butter for everyone. I ordered a Caesar, which came with an olive and slice of lime good flavour, but I had to add a ton of Tabasco to make it spicier. The drinks, as well as food, are all reasonably priced. Glasses of house wine are $7.50, beers starting from $4.50, and cocktails from $6.75. Pasta dishes and other entrees start at about $16 17. I couldn 't decide what to order. I heard that they make all of their pasta from scratch and that spaghettini carbonara was great, but I was craving some kind of stuffed pasta. The server suggested getting half and half for a few bucks more, which I really appreciated. It turned out perfectly, since I 'm not sure I would 've enjoyed a full plate of just one or the other as much. I found the carbonara to have much more flavour than the tortellini both were creamy, but I got a lot more of the smoky flavour with the pieces of pancetta in the carbonara. I got full pretty fast, finishing only half of both pasta dishes. I took the leftovers home. After reheating, there was about three tablespoons of oil and grease at the bottom of my bowl enough that I had to sort of strain as I ate. Absolutely better freshly made!
Came here for a family dinner last weekend. This seems like an old school institution, complete with the grey haired regulars and giant portions of Italo-America classics like Chicken Parmesan, Veal Masala and Spaghetti Carbonara. This dosen't pretend to be actual Italian but that being said it's quite decent food and like I said the portions are huge. If you can see past the location in the strip mall and the lack of ambiance, it is quite a nice place.
I never would have tried this restaurant had it not been recommended to me by different co-workers. I've driven by it many times and it does not look like much from the outside (in fact it looks run down and rough around the edges from the outside , but let me tell you, the food is delicious. The inside of the restaurant is nice and the service is quite good. They serve Italian food and their pasta is amazing. The pasta tastes fresh and is cooked to al dente perfection. The price is reasonable, not super cheap, but not too expensive either. Although given the location and the way it looks on the outside, I would have expected the price to be lower, however the food was delicious, so I'm ok with paying a higher price. Don't be scared off by the dingy strip mall that it's in, it's a hidden gem for sure :
This place is amazing. The seafood pasta delicious and perfect taste. Fresh bread to clean up the sauce.
