Tried their chicken, goat, and shrimp recently. First time trying goat, it was very good! The shrimp was good as well. The chicken was amazing though! Will definitely be going back for it. Better than Nandos! Loved the plantain side but the rice&veg and salad were not for me. View all feedback.
What Jacob Noble doesn't like about Lazare's Bbq:
The vegetables were like canned vegetables I’d buy at the grocery store. The chicken skewers were not that good, I don’t think some of it was even cooked properly. We weren’t able to eat the food, I wouldn’t recommend this spot. View all feedback.
I just had the best meal ever! I just had the best darn charcoal grilled chicken! AMAZING!! Forget St Hubert, Swiss Chalet and KFC you have to try this place out. My husband and I both took a combo chicken with plantain and rice so delicious, meat was flavorful and juicy, the rice was on point, plantain was excellent. We took a side of a goat skewer as we never had goat before and it melted in our mouths! So tasty, so tender. They must marinate it to be that tender. We also tried out their potato salad OMG!!! So many fresh ingredients in there just the best! This is a place we will definitely be ordering from again! Great job guys!! Keep up the great work!! Our new favorite place!!
Here's the short version: the food is fantastic, but the wait for it is sooooo looooong! My great idea was to pick up takeout here and bring it over to my parents house for lunch. I live about 30 minutes from my parents' house and this restaurant is like 5 minutes from their house. So I called the restaurant from my house to place the order (a whole chicken $17.95, an order of plantains $7.95 and an order of rice topped with vegetables $7.95). I figured I would leave my house and the food would be ready by the time I got there. Nope! I was told it would take 1 hour. Uh ok. So I go to my parents place hang out for half an hour, then I headed to the restaurant. When I arrived, I was told that the food wasn't ready yet. I waited at the restaurant for 20 more minutes! Gah! That being said, the man was very nice and did apologize for the wait. He seemed to be the only person there, so it was a one man show. Anyway, the food smelled super good and when I got home and we dug in, the food was delicious! I got us the spicy chicken and it had a fiery kick to it. The chicken was so tender and flavourful. Easily one of the tastiest chicken I've had in Ottawa! The chicken was a bit on the small side though, lol. The plantains were soft and sweet. The rice was bursting with flavour. I don't know what seasonings they put in it, but it was downright addictive. It was topped with fresh cabbage, fresh carrots and the frozen vegetable mix of carrots, peas, and corn. I could have done without the frozen mix and would have preferred more cabbage and carrots. Nonetheless, the rice was excellent. I loved the food. Five stars for the taste of the food. Minus 1 star for the long wait and the fact that the chicken was kinda puny, lol. Lazare's BBQ is where Orleans Shawarma used to be. It's in the mini strip mall on Tompkins. It's in between Milano Pizza and Tran Dee hair salon. Lots of free parking in the plaza.
This place is amazing, if you want food with lots of flavor this is the place to go. It's a small business that delivers quality food let me tell ya. Good job to the Lazares bbq restaurant.
I ordered goat meat but not cooked at all.it was like it came directly from fridge. Not good experience.I will not recommend their goat meat
Amazing food!! Grilled to perfection, flavorful and delicious! The Rice is also fantastic. Both, Musa and Lazare are fabulous they know how to cook.
