The very best tandoori chicken I've had. I have been going here for over 20 yrs. Same chicken since day 1. Model of consistency and an absolute yummy meal everytime. The rest of the food is amazing too btw! View all feedback.
What Kalev Orav doesn't like about India Palace:
I relied on Trip Advisor ratings/reviews (recent ones)! when I decided to try out this restaurant which was a couple of blocks away from the Marriott on Kent St. You should know you're in trouble in an Indian restaurant when there's sal and pepper on the table. Or when the tamarind chutney which accompanies the pappadam is so liquidy you can't catch any I (being on my own) had chicken tikka masala, rice and naan. The... View all feedback.
Very recently I had the opportunity to go to this restaurant. The food was very delicious and superbly complemented by their wonderful service. There are very few restaurants in the city that serves authentic South Asian cuisine and India Palace is one of them. I will go there again and again and would also recommend all my friends to go there and taste their food.

The food was mouth watering ly delicious. I recommend the spicey boonah chicken. Just the right amount of spice. Service was friendly and prompt. Ambience was calm and inviting.
Went for lunch. Surprised it was such a large space and completely empty. Friendly staff, great service. I drink a lot of water with my meals, and my glass never hit empty which for me is a marker of good service. I'm discerning with Indian food since my family is indian, but had a craving for it while visiting Ottawa and staying at the Marriott so thought I'd try it out as it was across the street. <br/ <br/ I ordered the chicken tikka appetizer and the vegetable pakora appetizer, along with a side of raita and mango pickle. The pakora were different from any other I've ever had, shaped like large flat fries rather than small nuggets, but they were delicious! I was warned that the chicken tikka would take 10 15 min which was kind, but it was well worth the wait! In the meanwhile, they served me a papadum with some tamarind dipping sauce. The sauce was in too small a container to dip my papadum into but was tasty. The tikka was excellent tender small bites of white meat, and the appetizer was easily enough to fill me up for lunch! There was a small basic salad that came with both appetizers that I dressed with lime juice and raita which was a perfect accompaniment. Their mango pickle (made in house) was also surprisingly some of the best I've ever had! Overall, for a total of $14, I got papadum, veggie pakora, chicken tikka, salad, raita and mango pickle very worth it as I left very full!
Great lunch spot. Love the small buffet and often organize monthly outings with work friends. Might be made better if they varied some of the buffet offerings.
