Best food of my life! I was practically drooling the entire time! Boyfriend got pineapple curry and it was so good I got a separate order to take home! Had the squid with Thai chilli sauce and it was amazing!! You gotta eat here!! View all feedback.
What Dayna Colang doesn't like about Green Papaya:
Used to order from here all the time and it was the BEST. However, the last 5 months or so, the pad Thai has been nearly tasteless. Unfortunate! Maybe a change in chef? Management? Not sure but hoping one day it turns around! View all feedback.
Food quality wasn't there. I remember the Green Papaya 20 years ago downtown. The chefs took the time to make it real. Not anymore.

Some of the best thai food in ottawa wish you guys opend arlier or i would buy lunch more often
Everything is from the 13-20 range which is fairly priced for some things and others not so much. A bowl of rice is 3 which I personally think is outrageous. Prepare for everything to be sweet and to have bell peppers inside it. The curries, noodles and meat dishes, a majority of them are the same mix of vegetables and have the same sweetness. The level 5 spicy of the beef was less spicy than level 1, it was incredibly disappointing, I wouldn’t have ordered it if I know it was this spicy. Overall, the dishes were average but all taste too similar with similar styles. We came when it opened at 5 and so we were the first customers, it took 15 minutes for the appetizers to come out and 45 minutes for the mains to come out, keep in mind we were the only ones. The waitress was super kind and kept checking up on us though. The only thing I really enjoyed was the customer service and the beef dish which sadly wasn’t spicy when it was suppose to be.
We have been eating at Green Papaya for more than 2 years and the food was always excellent. This evening I ordered and picked up my order at the restaurant. First as I arrived there was a nauseating sewer smell, very strong I almost turn around and left but I considered the fact that my husband was waiting and excited about eating Green Papaya 's food. I brought the food home and it was still hot, that was good. The Thai coconut soup (2) was so spicy that it was hard to swallow. Ouch at $7,75 each that was a waist. When I called the order in I asked for very mild spice taste. I was not heard. The Pad Thai so dry that we had to cut pieces with a knife to taste it and the scrimp small and overcooked. Could not eat it. As an add-on I had ordered the shrimps chips with peanut dipping sauce. They came in a big bag like big portion with a small container 2 oz. of the dipping sauce, you get the picture. A total was at the cost of $42.00. Conclusion Green Papaya will maybe see us back but not for a long long time.
