Love this quaint restaurant in Orleans. Food is always fresh and well presented. Service is exceptional. My favorite item on the menu is lobster ravioli. Try it next time you go. I guarantee it; you will not be disappointed. The owner takes the time to meet his guests when possible. Love the added personal touch. View all feedback.
What Jerry Veum doesn't like about Dantessa Restaurant:
We tried this restaurant before and were not fully satisfied but gave it another chance and went back December 2015. Never again. We were forewarned it had not gotten better and should have known better. There were a few customers. We were three and ordered Onion soup, Mussels in cream sauce, debra Gnocci, Quattro Stagioni Pizza and Siciliana Pizza. Onion soup was so salty it tasted like the Dead Sea Water. The Musse... For my meal I ordered a terrific dish called Aglia D'Orosta (or something like that.) I was the most delicious creamy blend of fresh pasta with herbs and spices that I have ever tasted (and I have eaten in 5-star places in Rome.)! It has...More
We've been to Dantessa's a few times now, as we live not too far away. This restaurant really is in a bad spot. You can't see it from the road, because it's hidden behind the Dairy Queen. But we've given it a few chances and foodwise it has yet to fail us. We went for supper on Valentine's Day. The heart shaped lobster ravioli was outstanding. The maple crème brulée for dessert was equally delicious. My only note of pickiness is that I got all of TWO croutons on my ceasar salad. Two. Really? Why not just skip the croutons if you're going to be THAT stingy. Despite the crowded restaurant on Valentine's Day, on a regular day, you will find the place nearly empty. It generally means quick service and fresh food.In any case, if you're looking for Italian, skip going to a place like East Side Mario's, and check out Dantessa's. It's infinitely better.
In my opinion, a hidden gem in Orleans! We went here for Valentines Day and was not disappointed! From the complimentary bread sticks and bread (unlimited shall I say?) to the unique and savory homemade vinaigrette, the restaurant surpassed our expectations! We ordered the Tessa pizza and the Arrosto all'aglio - one word, DELICIOUS! Those meals were to DIE FOR, the flavour was so unique and you can definitely taste the homecooked feel. With that in mind, we're aware that Valentines day is a busy time of year and this appears to be a family-owned business so we understand that communication can be lacked during stressful times (table seating, missing menus haha) - that being said, the staff were very humble and sincere. They made you feel comfortable and they aren't all about the "Do you want anything else?" attitude like chain-store restaurants. Very excellent place! Highly recommend it! Shout-out to our server David (the red candies ARE the best ;))!
The Mussels were sad looking, the size of a Tylenol Gel and half of the shells were empty. The Gnocchi have seen better days, the Quattro pesto pizza salty, and last the Siciliana Pizza was greasy I could have had a healthier meal at a chip wagon. I think the waiter new from faces that we may never returned when he said, hope to see you again. He was pleasant. Never again thank you.
Service was very good. Food was also good. But a few things .wine glass was not clean...some mussels were cold.
