Chances R Restaurant - Ottawa

Went for brunch today, we were given a booth (2 adults, 3 children) as we settled in a couple of waitresses came over to us, told us we had one hour to eat and get out. She then went on to explain that there is a reservation strictly for the booth we were sitting at. I told them hopefully we will leave within an hour as I do not want to rush my kids and we wanted to spent time together as a family. I told them they could have told us upon arrival. She was wasting our time along with her own just talking, and it takes fairly a half an hour to prepare the dishes, so here we were listening to her telling us we must leave in an hour. I asked to speak with the manager, she told us again we had an hour to eat. What a bad service and we are not going back there. The girls need to learn how to speak to people, otherwise they will lose more customers. We left hungry but happy to eat elsewhere.

We went to celebrate a birthday on Sunday. It was a busy place for after the Theater crowd, but we were seated immediately. I loved the fact that the noise level was minimal (well designed) and although crowded, we were able to have a great conversation. The menu was challenging with lots of great choices. The food ordered arrived hot and delicious. Our server was very cheery and efficient. We didn't get her name, but she is a mother of a 2 year old son and 4 cats! Loved her style.

New ownership. New menu. Been going there regularly since 1978. Horrible experience this week. Food over cooked, mixup with the bill, inexperienced server, couldn't care less night manager. Hate to say it, we loved the old place, but we will never return.

Great place for weekend breakfast. Omelets are fantastic! We got seated right away which was nice and the place was busy but not crowded. Service was excellent as well.

Love that it's near Algonquin. It has a Dollarama, Popeyes among others. I can easily visit them in between classes or after.
