Had a nice dinner here and the server knew exactly how to guide me through the menu. Had the mussels to start which was nice but needed a gluten free bread or bun but nothing was offered. Had the seafood pasta which was great. I would recommend! View all feedback.
What Nessrin Gaddah doesn't like about Canal Ritz:
Great view at the canal.. However, I was frequently annoyed by the waitress (Jaz) who didn’t stop coming to me asking if I need something else and her shift is over.. why should I care if her shift is over but the restaurant is still open.. it was my first time there and was going through the menu and I like to get my meal in courses, salad then soup then the main course but she really kept coming to me a lot I could... I don't recommend this place to any of my friends or family. The scenery and location are awesome, but the food quality, flavours, variety etc all disappoint. I came as part of a rehearsal dinner and got the salmon, the carrots were overcooked, and some tasted sour/rotten. I did not finish my
The canal ritz is the place to go to enjoy the canal with a drink but that’s all that this restaurant is good for. The food was incredibly mediocre and I would not order anything again unfortunately.Bread Rolls 3/10 The bread rolls before dinner were stale and cold.Pear and Brie Pizza 7/10 the crust resembled the type of pizza you ordered from an elementary school cafeteria. The crust was thin and similar to cardboard. The pear pieces were quite big and could have been sliced thinner for more even bites.Smoked Salmon Pasta 5/10 the pasta was heavy and the portion was large. Nothing spectacular about this dish and the smoked salmon had quite a strong smell..Canal Ritz Burger 6/10 amongst the many toppings on this burger, the burger was just average in taste and look. The view of the canal is always nice!
The good: the service is very good! The servers are fast, exceptionally friendly, and attentive. The view is lovely with panoramic views of the canal. The cocktails were quite good. The bad: the food is not good. Bland and poorly composed. I’d compare the chicken on my salad to what you might get on a fast food sandwich. Additionally, with prices on the high side $90 for lunch for 2), I’d expect something a bit nicer than plastic patio furniture.TLDR: go for the view, not the food.
I have been here back in 2017 when I lived for a summer and now I came back for a vacation with my husband. I was really hoping that they did not close down (like many restaurants post the pandemic) and I was very pleased to know it is standing still with the same great food, service, and view/atmosphere. I absolutely love this place, it makes me feel so at ease and relaxed. I ordered the canal ritz pizza, I couldn't decide between that, the artichoke one or goat pizza, so I asked the server to make a choice for me. I was happy with it, the dough is very light and soft/tender, the toppings are sauteed and full of flavour. I also got a chocolate brownie (in picture), which was decadent and rich in flavour as well. The servers are nice and the service speed is just right. I could come here every day if I could.Thank you for a nice visitVegetarian options: a nice variety of vegetarian dishes especially pizza.
I had a wonderful lunch with family to celebrate my grandparents' 89th birthday, we were 11 people in total! We each had delicious food and our server was incredibly kind. She checked in on us just enough and was smart on the ball and made jokes! She said she has been serving for 15 year and it shows! Good luck to her in her master's!I had the pasta special with fettuccine and grilled chicken, with mushrooms and spinach in a rose sauce. All out food stayed hot and warm during our meal! The pasta tasted fresh and the sauce was great, the mushrooms were so tasty!Atmosphere was great, we had a great view of the canal, there was a nice breeze keeping us cool!Would definitely go back for celebration meals!
