My third visit. No disappointment here. Excellent server with very good food. The Chicken Kebab was melt-in-your-mouth good with a very nice mint sauce accompanying it. The Lamb was rich with gravy, just perfect for the double order of Garlic Naan. The appetizer of deep-fried onion should have been passed by ... enough to eat otherwise. View all feedback.
What Chanel Aufderhar doesn't like about Aahar Indian Restaurant:
If you're looking for flavorful Indian cuisine, go elsewhere. The starters (onion bhaji & vegetarian samosas) were good, but the main dishes were disappointingly bland in flavor. Basmati rice didn't come with the main courses and had to be ordered separately. I have been to many Indian restaurants and this is something that I have never experienced, ever! Basmati rice didn't come with the main courses and had to be ordered separately. I have been to many Indian restaurants and this is something that I have never experienced, ever! The waitress failed to make us aware of this until our meals arrived at the table. She was also quite pushy in her efforts to get us to order more food than we were interested in ordering. I am certain there are far better Indian restaurants in Ottawa than the Aahar The Taste of India.
- meets all standards, quiet ambiance, decor, service, taste, price. Ample parking. Close to Highway.
We were at the Alta Vista location twice in the spring (April and May) for the lunch buffet. There is a reasonable variety of vegetarian and meat dishes, most of them good, as well as fresh naan. The buffet did not include soup, something a bit unusual for an Indian buffet.
This restaurant catered to a cruise in Ottawa River for Canada day. VERY disappointing! They call it Indian but don't know how to cook! Save your money go elsewhere.
And at pretty reasonable price. This buffet includes starters and dessert. The food consists of vegetarian food and meat dishes, flat bread and others. A clean restaurant with a friendly owner. The beer selection is Canadian and alge enough.
