The Diner - Ottawa

The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere and very friendly staff. The milkshakes are incredible, but unfortunately, the food was only average. The menu is too extensive and everything is just decent. They should consider scaling down the menu and concentrating on the dishes they excel in.

I have been a loyal customer of this diner for more than five years, regularly visiting for lunches and weekend breakfasts. The restaurant offers traditional dishes with a touch of elegance and benefits from a lively atmosphere and sunny seating. However, be prepared for a noisy, yet friendly dining experience. The food has consistently been very good, but recently, the new owners seem to be prioritizing speed over important details. For example, a side of fresh fruit should not just be sliced oranges. Additionally, in Ottawa, we should take pride in our maple syrup and not charge extra for it. The children's menu should come with a larger drink, not just a 3.5oz option. When service is rushed, patrons should not feel rushed as well. Overall, I still recommend the diner, but urge them not to lose the qualities that make them stand out.
