Gorge - Otaki
Gorge
Description
Tucked down a side street in Ōtaki, this stylish warehouse-turned-café wins praise for hearty homemade pies, standout coffee and a quirky, spacious interior with driftwood features and comfy seating. Many enjoy attentive service, a varied lunch/dinner menu and deli produce, making it a popular road‑trip stop. However, unreliable posted hours, no contact number, confusing menu placement and limited kid-friendly options have frustrated visitors. Excellent food and atmosphere, but operational improvements are needed.

Had a lovely time at Gorge, the food was delicious. Nice selection, but the menu placement was annoying, we lined up on a busy Saturday morning, not knowing where the menu was, only yo be told it was on the wall past the ordering counter. So we ended up having to line up twice. Suggest the management move the menu to near the entrance please and place them on counter also.
I found a charming little café on a side road near Otaki. It has a quirky vibe that I really enjoyed. I loved my pie, and the chips were tasty as well. I would give it a 4 out of 5, though, because the atmosphere was a bit lacking, and it could have benefitted from some heaters. I’m definitely planning to give it another visit!
Good atmosphere cafe and friendly staffs. A little pricey for their sandwiches, would be worth $19 if there was some side salad to help cut the richness.
Nice little cafe on the back road around otaki. Very funky. I loved my pie and the chips were good too. Only a 4 as it didnt have much of an atmosphere and could have done with some heaters on. Ill try again Meal type: Lunch Price per person: NZ$10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
