Rifugio Mongioie - ORMEA

Ottimo, una garanzia. Menù a euro più che valido, tutto molto buono, porzioni abbondanti, posto stupendo. Servizi rapido ed adeguato. Lo consiglio

Ho soggiornato con la formula Star Box con mia moglie e il mio bambino, è stata una bellissima esperienza per tutti.Parcheggiato l'auto a Viozene abbiamo seguito le indicazioni molto chiare per il rifugio e in poco più di mezz'ora siamo arrivato, era l'ora di cena.Siamo stati accolti con gentilezza e disponibilità, nonostante l'ora di punta e la tanta gente presente (era la settimana di Ferragosto).Cena ottima e abbondante!Serata sotto le stella magnifica, la casetta è molto ben rifinita, accogliente, confortevole, magico il tetto che scorre...Alla mattina abbondante colazione e poi via verso altre passeggiate.Ci siamo fatti fare qualche panino, c'era la possibilità del pranzo m abbiamo preferito rimanere svincolati da orari.Consiglio questa esperienza a chi ha bambini o ragazzini per far provare qualcosa di insolito e scoprire la natura e le stelle.

We ate in this restaurant and the place is great only later did i realise i was ripped off and once you are down the mountain it's too late. Be careful if you go and check the bill. We ordered a complete menu and 1 antipasto (8euro was too much the complete menu should also include dessert and coffee. We complicated it a little because we ordered an extra dessert and an extra coffee. We paid 54 but because each plate was added up instead of a menu plus 1 plate we paid about 10euros too much (10 euro doesnt sound much but it is about 20% also because 1/2 litre of wine was added. Be careful, its a shame as the mountains are not normally so. Positive point is the house wine is good and the polenta with 3 different toppings is great and very big!

The Mongioie rifugio (it. for full service mountain cabin is uniquely positioned and well organized! to offer a combination of traditional pleasures (high quality, simple, generous Ligurian/Piedmont cooking in a very nice indoor and even better: outdoor environment especially enjoyable at lunchtime with a location suitable many different personal preferences... whether you are a mountain goat just longing to continue the trekking the day after, school kids on a trip with the football team, pensioners looking for a well served lunch or vacationers to the Riviera coast who want to escape the hum drum ad heat of the coast for a some hours or some days in a cool but very pleasant climate and BEAUTIFUL surroundings with a stunning panorama at all times of day and a stunning night sky.... Where can you find a place like this where 1h drive+1h walk from the Mediterranean seaside 3 h walk from the beautiful Mongioie mountain top (2630 m alt with a 360° view from Mont Blanc to Corsica on clear days they serve you generous traditional style full course dinners or lunches at unbeatable prices the hosts go beyond what you expect from traditional mountain refuges... eg. serving Leffe beer from the tap, organizing concerts (jazz/folk... , cool gadgets organized to accomodate different personal preferences in the family or the group in terms of transportation options or activities for the day.... ? My favorite mountain destination in Italy....

During a recent visit to Liguria, My wife and I were told about a 45 minute walk we could take up the Italian Alps to the Rifugio Mongioie for lunch. So we went for it! We drove from Imperia through Ormea Colle di Nava and arrived at Viozene. The hike starts behind the church in the center of the town. It is well marked out and quite steep. It was suggested we call ahead to reserve a table for lunch. After 45 minutes we arrived and were pleased to see that a table was prepared for us! The views of the mountains were incredible! We took a ton of photos and videos but realized they would never be able to truly capture the beauty of the area. When we arrived at the Rifugio we were kindly greeted and the food soon arrived. It was the perfect meal and I think it cost us about 30 euros total. There are also free and clean restrooms available. After dinner we wandered about marveling at natures beauty! On this particular day they were setting up for a concert for all of the Alpine Hikers! We didn't realize how popular this was until our walk back down the mountain. We encountered MANY people on their way up! It was a great hike.
