Great venue in the middle of Orange. Always happy with the wine list and menu changes regularly. Fish soup ok, the meat platter amazing and have heard a lot about the bread and butter pudding.. will be back View all feedback.
What Abdullah Leffler doesn't like about Union Bank Wine Bar & Restaurant:
Arrived for lunch and hardly any customers in the placeOrdered lunch at 12.10 and finally arrived just after 1pmLucky we did not order entrees!Could have been their all dayChicken was dry and overlookedOsso Bucco was goodNo atmosphere whatsoever and a cold breeze running through the placeWon't be backI also then noted on other reviews that they have 2 sittings at night, but no notice anywhere about that View all feedback.
Great place if you are a food and wine snob. Food and drinks are very expensive. Unless you consider 4 floriettes of cauliflower and broccoli with a little sauce and a couple of smashed nuts, called a salad at $16, good value. So called salad was bland and insipid. A boutique stubbie of beer was $11. Wine prices were $10 upwards. Many bottles of wine were >$100. Most expensive was $2200. My friend had veggie soup at$24. Plenty of beans, herbs etc, soup liquid was very light on, to almost none existent. I would not recommend this restaurant. Overpriced with no atmosphere.
We had a great quick dinner one night - duck ragout gnocchi - with a great range of wines. Everything was great - a slightly better dessert range would have helped make it even better.

Having heard good reports about the Union Bank, we were looking forward to our mid Winter visit but the 4 of us left disappointed. On arrival, we were indicated a table for 4 but then waited for service. Eventually I had to catch the eye of someone to ask for drinks. When 3 of our 4 drinks arrived, we again waited and eventually had to re-ask for the 4th .... only to find at the end of the night, we had been charged twice for that drink !. The food was pleasant without special. The steak (described strangely as a confit of sirloin) was pleasant but really just two medallions of meat on a plate with a vegetable and mash - a bit of sauce would have been nice and the barramundi was only luke warm which made the skin no longer crispy. Sweets were extremely limited (only a baked brie and a bread and butter pudding on offer) so we skipped them to have Petit Fours ($9 extra) with coffee but these were disappointing also as they appeared to be just cut up slices etc and not individually prepared as is often the case in such places. For a shared pate between 4, 1 course each, coffee, pre-dinner drink and 1 bottle of local wine between 4, the cost of $150 a double made other restaurants visited seem much better value.
Very tasty meals and went based on the reviews but they were a little small particularly what you pay. Also friendly staff.
