A little-known place that’s been right under our noses is a bar restaurant in Mandala Park called PuNta. (Mandala Park is located along Shaw Boulevard, right where Puregold is. TV host/radio announcer turned entrepreneur, Paolo Bediones had originally named it PuÑta (pronounced “punyeta”, a curse word in Spanish , an outcry of frustration on the recent events of his life and a symbolism of recovery. However, society... View all feedback.

Wow I Want This Resto Soon But I Need Some Stuff For #Paolo And #Cheryl
It’s no secret that I am a big fan of tapas dry aged chorizos, and when I had an invite at this up and coming Latin American restaurant in Shaw, I just couldn't say no. All thanks to Zomato! My absolute favorite? Ropa Vieja. Chunks of burnished pork belly squeezed into a puffy broth that's actually stewed for long periods of time. On our first visit these tasted monochromatically salty, but there's been ongoing tweaking over the first several weeks, and for our second sampling, a slathering of mojo added a much needed note of contrast. Strips of platanos are present as garnishing, yet it exudes authenicity in a very good way. The menu is an eye opening melange of Latin fusion with elements of Cuban, Haitian, Mexican, Peruvian, Venezuelan, Spanish, Mariscos, Argentinian and even New Mexican ingredients used in sundry and creative ways. As with true fusion, menu items have combined those elements – Mexican chimichurri with Spanish grilled lenguas, for example. It wouldn’t be a true fusion restaurant if diverse, sometimes disparate culinary traditions, elements and ingredients didn’t form an entirely unique genre. Punta is a true fusion restaurant, not one which offers menu items from several Latin speaking nations. So after two trips and nearly twenty dishes (yes, there were still others I tried that I didn't describe here) how do I feel about Punta? Let me state it simply: this is already one of the top restaurants in Mandala Park. It is not exactly ground breaking, and it is not entirely flawless. But the food is flavorful and fun, sometimes even complex and elegant. The menu is ambitious and diverse. The space, and the staff, all exude elegance without stuffiness though on our two visits, the venue is a bit warm food's been taking quite a while to be served still. It is a relief to see Mr. Paolo Bediones (one of its owners, a well known TV personality) come to town and not feel compelled to dumb down the brand, but instead seek out ways to expand and adapt it to the local audience. PS: If you're into feel good, live music entertainment, then Punta is the place for you. Everyday of the week, expect live performers from acoustic indie artists to the country's top key players in the industry!
I never thought I'll go to the stretch of Shaw blvd to satisfy my cravings. Let alone find a decent chill place to dine, drink and be merry. Then I was introduced to Punta. It was definitely a surprise. I didn't even know there was a place like this. It's situated at Mandala Park (used to be Liberty Center) and one of the good thing about the place is their huge parking space. The place looks modern. I like how one of it's owners (Paolo Bediones), designed it personally and I think he did a good job. But more than the aesthetics, I think the owners are more passionate about their food. I like how they took almost an hour to discuss what their food was about. They offer Latin-American food at a really competitive price. Please believe me when I say that it really does taste like an authentic latin american food. You have got to order atleast one of their Appetizers. Personal favorite is the Nachos Mexicana. Huge serving and really tastes good, all that cheese and piccadillo is just yummy AF. Best part for me was the Anticuchos which is basically marinated skewered meats. Chicken heart was the best chicken heart i've tasted ever. Perfect with their vinegar. I also liked their Plato Asado. Chicken was tender and flavorful but what really sets it apart from other plato asado served vy other latin american joint here in the Ph is their Chimichurri sauce, wait erase that, ALL THEIR SAUCES. I would love to take them out if only it was possible! Really yum! Theybalso have guisados. I recommend Ropa Vieja. For the soup, get the one with Shrimp in it. And for those who like burger I suggest you get their take on the chori burger. Overall, i'm very satisfied with what they have to offer. Di ka mapapahiya when you bring someone in. And did I mention they also have live bands, every night? And not just random bands, they get really cool local bands every now and then! So It's a no brainer, i'm coming back. And you should try it now, as in now.
