The Beef n' Barrel is always consistently great food, great service, and has a clean, homey atmosphere. One of the most popular local spots in Olean, best drinks in town, scratch-baked bread and rolls, beef carving stations in every room. Fast lunch service, and hosts are friendly and welcoming. Went in for an early dinner at 4 pm. We were given the lunch menu. There was a lunch special for an open faced prime rib sandwich, which my boyfriend ordered. The waitress told us that this item had sold out for lunch but offered he could order the prime rib off the dinner menu for nearly 30$. He declined. Absolutely fantastic! The beef on weck, fries with gravy, German potato salad, and mud pie with homemade hot fudge sauce were all incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed every dish!
I went at 3 pm and didn't have to wait. The food and service were excellent!
Our server, Chris, at the Beef N Barrel on Union St. in Olean, NY, was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in our travels. She was pleasant, professionally friendly, and perfectly attentive without hovering. The Roast Beef Dinner was worth every penny, with tender beef generously covered in gravy. A special note for those who prefer their steaks medium rare - the roast beef is actually rare, so be sure to order yours medium if you don't want it too juicy. The homemade rolls were delicious and you can't go wrong with any choice of their mixed-in kitchen salad dressings. If you happen to be traveling near Olean, NY, make sure to stop in and see Chris at the Beef N Barrel on Union St.
