Love shakewell! It’s a great little spot and I’m so happy they were able to keep the outdoor area. Everyone who works there is absolutely lovely! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $30–50

I just went there for the first time in forever, and it was not the experience I was expecting. Did you know that on Tuesdays they do live jazz? In that small restaurant with amps and mics and nothing to dampen the sound of horn instruments? I didn 't, and when I tried to catch up with a friend, the entire meal was just us repeating, WHAT DID YOU SAY? while a trumpet blared behind us. We kept thinking they 'd take a break so we could chat, but that never happened. Who cares about ambiance, right? So anyway, Tuesdays aren 't great for conversations. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2
The food was quite good. My family and I had lunch around 1:30 pm. Lunch service goes until 3 pm, so we could still order from the breakfast menu. I opted for the shrimp and grits, which were cooked perfectly; the shrimp were very flavorful. My daughter chose shrimp over Mediterranean rice, but the shrimp wasn’t as tasty as what I had. My son ordered the spiced chicken fillet with potatoes—while the chicken was just okay, the potatoes were excellent. My wife enjoyed a delicious chicken sandwich that was juicy and full of flavor. Overall, we had a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this place. I’d give it four and a quarter stars!
We were promptly seated at 8 PM on a Saturday without any wait. The tables by the window offered great views for people-watching, both inside the restaurant and on the street. Every dish we tried was delicious. The goat cheese plate had a lovely balance of flavors, and the patatas bravas were generous enough for two servings. The drinks were strong yet had a nice complexity to them. I’ll definitely be returning!
