A great addition to the neighborhood. The food was amazing. The cocktails well crafted. Very courteous waite staff. My guests repeated how happy they were to have found Limon and it's wonderful Peruvian Cuisine. A very vibrant Oakland scene! Not the place for a quiet cozy dinner. We loved the place! What Andres R doesn't like about Limón:
When we went on Valentine's Day the food was cold and on a hot plate, since one of the good things about going to a restaurant of this level is supposed to be that your dinner will be fresh. This was discussed with the waiter and he proceeded to change it, which improved significantly when he brought dinner again. We had our end of the year team lunch here, and the food was amazing. We had ceviche, salad, Brussels sprouts, lomo saltado, chicken, and empanadas. One of my coworkers got the Panna Cotta for dessert, which looked yummy also. Service was great (bonus points for being able to accommodate 24 of us), and I'm sure we'll be back someday.
We ordered dinner-to-go for my sister's boyfriend's birthday, and it was such a decadent spread! We ordered the roast chicken (of course) with the delicious herb sauce, sweet potato and regular fries, ceviche, yuca fries, empanadas and mac and cheese. It was the perfect amount for six people, and it hit the spot for a fancy but comfortable meal. Every dish was delicious, and we couldn't pick a favorite. Definitely come here if you're celebrating something special at home. Why cook?
Casual Peruvian; good for groups when the company is paying. Food good; Noisy atmosphere inside. There are group tables, which was good for my work group. However, the open kitchen combined with the acoustics of the space leads to a noisy environment during the lunch hour. Although conversation would have been easier if a few design changes had been made, we were able to converse with some seat jumping. Noticed that there are smaller tables with outdoor seating in a niceenvironment that is quieter. The place gives a mid-range casual atmosphere, where jeans are perfectly acceptable. But the menu is more high-end. For example, there is a $42 stake option. Most plates are $25-30 (in 2022). Maybe I'm not usedto inflation yet? No, it's expensive. Which is kinda odd because it isn't a good date atmosphere. We tried the ceviche (nice appetizer), asparagus, empanadas, and I got the Lengua (beef tongue). All the food was very good. The yuca frieswere very salty, but that's true of a lot of restaurants, especially fries.
They are soooo great! The food is delicious. They are truly the most sincere and accommodating restaurant staff I?ve met. When the food didn?t taste quite how I imagined (still good but more seafood flavor than I was used to for that dish, so I stole my boyfriend?s meal heh), they noticed that I didn?t eat a lot of it and generously removed it from the bill. Then the manager asked for our feedback on all the food and gave more recommendations. We wrapped up with a delicioustres leches cake.
