Oakland's Commonwealth Café Public House is a popular local dining destination known for its contemporary twist on traditional British pub cuisine. Guests can enjoy whimsical starters like beanz and toast made with Heinz baked beans on buttered multigrain toast, as well as a pork sausage-wrapped Scotch egg with curry ketchup. Specialty entrées include lamb shepherd's pie with mashed potatoes and cheese, vegan curry chana masala with spiced chickpeas, and a ham and cheese toasty sandwich with onion marmalade. The café also offers a full kids' menu and delicious dessert options, such as butterscotch bread pudding topped with sweet clotted cream. Excellent variety of beer and coffee selections. The atmosphere was lively as I watched the Liverpool game with a group of fellow soccer fans, making the experience even more enjoyable.
The mocha and Cortado at this restaurant are excellent and made to perfection. The English setup and decor are very pleasant.
This is one of my top pubs. It's a fantastic spot for enjoying a couple of drinks, savoring a deliciously made Scotch egg, and catching a football game. The service is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food is excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
The Mocha and Cortado are brewed perfectly. The restaurant has a lovely English-style setup and decor.
I love the ambiance, service, and cocktails at this restaurant. While the food options and beer selection are more limited compared to before the pandemic, I am grateful that they are still in business.
