The service was excellent and th... read more This pub is set in a rural spot overlooking Rutland water, the ambience is excellent even in the unpredictable British weather. The service was excellent and the food presentation was the same. We had the 3 course set menu and everything was a quality standard. The food was delicious.

It was raining but the view... read more We went for an early evening meal my elderly father and myself so it was quiet in the restaurant but many people around in the bar. It was raining but the view out of the glass doors showed that in sunny weather there is a lovely outdoor area overlooking Rutland Water and I would imagine the doors to the restaurant could be opened right up. My father had an excellent cauliflower soup and I had a very simple but delicious smoked salmon with horseradish creme fraiche. We both had the sirloin with rosti and creamed cabbage which was cooked to perfection. I had a lovely glass of sauvignon blanc very fruity. A very enjoyable meal.

Varied menu using local produce, beef cooked to individual taste, enjoyed by both of us. Staff very friendly and efficient. Recommend lunchtime menu, Mon Fri, for the selection of food and price.
