It was disappointing to witness a nervous trainee being observed by their instructor while serving us. Although I would consider returning, the service could be more friendly and efficient, especially considering the high prices and mandatory 12.5% service charge.

We were also handed over a menu that was not one of the selections on and we were told about the change. Why not print the menu? This was a special occasion and I expected more for the paid price. The scallop bowl and grouse were excellent, but the rest was on average disappointing. Somewhere like Chez Bruce is much better in every way. The first problems in the world.

The crowd were of an age and manner while the servers at times lacked affability, but on the whole the service and atmosphere were lovely. The food was divine, local, British, and of a quality suitable for ignoring less educated neighbours.
