We had an absolutely fantastic nearly three-hour dining experience that my wife and I will cherish for years to come. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairings, and it was exquisite. The service was flawless, and the creativity and presentation of each dish were outstanding. The spacious table arrangements created a wonderful ambiance. (I also want to clarify that I accidentally rated the noise level with 2 stars instead of 1 star, but I couldn't correct the mistake on the website.) If you plan to dine out just once this year, make it here!
Things didn't quite come together at Le Hatley. A very traditional dining room in a very traditional old resort promised high end dining, but failed at the basics. We visited on a long weekend in winter. Two thirds of the food was delicious, but some was just off. The sablefish (black cod) was strangely fishy tasting, and the meringue in the pear dessert was actually rancid. The sommelier took forever to take our wine order; and after pouring two very stingy glasses was never seen from again. We'd have ordered another glass with dinner and another for dessert but we were abandoned. We asked a waiter to bring the sommelier, but that never came to pass.. The restaurant was not full, so that doesn't explain what happened. To the managers, it seems perhaps that you are resting on your past achievements. Given your achievements and how proudly you display them, perhaps a bit of arrogance has crept in? The experience we had did not live up to your prior acclaim.
We mentioned that my partner was pregnant, and while the staff made an effort to accommodate us, they included fish roe in the amuse-bouche. Thankfully, we checked before she ate it. Additionally, one of the servers laughed at us during his explanation of the service, which made us both feel uncomfortable.
Spent our 15th anniversary last night and it was phenomenal. Amazing staff, delicious food and extremely warm and welcoming dining room. Can't wait to try the hotel rooms and come back for the full experience !
This restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere that is both classic and serene. The service was satisfactory. The dishes were delicious and elegantly presented. They also offer a lovely selection of wines. My only minor complaint is that I was served a large piece of bread at the beginning of the meal.
