Description

The Picnic Box in Lynton offers a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with great food at good value. Despite a limited menu, the homemade dishes are tasty and reasonably priced. Although devoid of toilets, the charming cafe provides excellent service and delicious items like scones and baguettes. The friendly staff and peaceful setting make it a worthwhile stop for a meal in a busy area. Overall, The Picnic Box is a hidden gem that continues to impress with its quality, delicious food, and warm hospitality.

Visited today with my family, could not have been a more enjoyable experience. Attentive, accommodating and friendly staff. Ensured the 4 of us could sit together once another group had finished making it much easier to keep an eye on our two little boys. Offered an easy alternative of baked beans on toast (though neither of our boys like that think they're the only kids that don't! , but felt assured could ask for a very slight amendment to the sandwich offering for my eldest (6 , we ordered our youngest (4 jam on toast which came with a selection of 4 jams! Exceeded expectations all round, expecting a loaf sized piece of lemon drizzle, when lemon cake was offered, instead it was a three layer lemon cake that was delicious, everything was really reasonably priced and delicious. Would recommend without hesitation and I don't know for sure, but it sounds like they provide some level of takeaway too, if you're looking for picnic bits. Thank you

We had a great afternoon tea, the ladies couldn't have been more helpful. They cater well for gluten free and the raspberry cake was delicious.

Perhaps we arrived too early; perhaps we just caught them on a bad day, whichever, service with a smile would go along way. A basic coffee and tea seemed to bring a scowl. A polite, reasonable enquiry as to whether they sold biscuits brought another scowl. Perhaps it's just the way we looked which brought out the worst. I normally leave a tip wherever we go; the fact The Picnic Box did not receive a tip speaks for itself.

Had a great late lunch at this comfortable friendly cafe, the sandwiches were good with plenty of filling, they were very tasty, they obviously use good quality ingredients which makes all the difference. Then there was the cake! we both had a piece of St Clements cake which was amazing and all at a very reasonable price

Brilliant service by a lovely young lady. Nice selection of foods. We visited here before going to the cinema we were looking for a nice quick meal and something simple. Good quality food quick service. I would definitely come back and would recommend to others.
