The cafe in Lynton and Lynmouth has sparked controversy with its pricey hot drinks and strict rules, leading many to call for a boycott. However, some customers have enjoyed the friendly staff, delicious food, and beautiful garden setting. Despite the mixed reviews, their cream tea has been praised by many as a must-try. The cafe's owners have faced criticism for their rude and offensive behavior, prompting customers to seek hospitality elsewhere. Ultimately, it seems that while the cafe has its shortcomings and detractors, there are also those who appreciate its offerings and atmosphere.

Beautiful garden to sit in and enjoy perfect coffee which is a good size compared to other places in lynmouth! Would definitely recommend, yes I had to queue but if there’s a queue then it means it’s good and freshly made!!!

Limited staff slow service small scones no tea bag left in the tea or a pot and disposable plates etc bit disappointing to be honest for such a busy area

If you read my other reviews, you will realise that I am a complimentary and encouraging person. My reaction to “The CoffeeMill” then, is new for me. I was feeling ill due to breathing issues, and needed to sit down. This establishment has a gorgeous little garden I remember from 30 years ago. We headed there, and hubby went off to find refreshments while I sat down. I think the fact that we had quite a lengthy chat this morning about how awful it was, speaks volumes! All the other negative reviews are spot on and we cannot imagine why the owners are running this place into the ground so deliberately! The setting is quite literally the ONLY thing in its favour.

We were struggling to find somewhere to stop for a quick bite in the middle of a busy COVID August. The queue at The Coffee Mill wasn’t too bad and moved quickly. We were served by a lovely lady (maybe the owner? who explained the very efficient process for safe dining while sorting our order. We had the ‘cream tea’ with loads of clotted cream, which was lovely. We’d definitely return if we’re ever back in the area!

I spent 3 days in Lynton this week. I had 3 morning coffees at The Coffee Mill based on two local residents recommendations. My morning coffee is my luxury and having found the right place on my first morning, there was no need to try elsewhere. The Covid measures were spot on. The staff were friendly and polite. The spacious location is ideal for watching the world go by. The pasties were also delicious. Vegan options. I will be back.
