Rising Sun - North Devon
Rising Sun
Description
The Rising Sun in Lynmouth has received mixed reviews from customers. Some have found the food disappointing, with overcooked fish and pheasant, as well as high prices. However, others have praised the restaurant for its friendly bar staff and welcoming atmosphere. The Sunday lunches, homemade desserts, and special dishes like the Côte de boeuf have been particularly popular among visitors. The cozy ambiance, good service, and beautiful views of the harbor have also been noted as highlights. Despite some minor complaints about the toilets, overall the Rising Sun seems to be a popular choice for those looking for a great dining experience in Lynmouth.

We remembered this place from a previous visit but it was disappointing this time. They seemed to have run out of most of the roast dinners on Sunday, and even on Monday a lot of the main dishes had run out. The food we had was lovely but very limited choice.
We have eaten here a number of times. Sadly it has changed, its atmosphere is not as friendly as it used to be and they have young staff who lack in customer service….. it is a shame
It was a nice big room, but it smelled very musty/musty (like in a damp basement). Parking is problematic because only public parking is available and there are a lot of tourists in the place. Worst breakfast of our 6 days in various hotels in Cornwall.
Love this pub...2 nights in a row I had the fish and chips. The staff are amazing.
