We were fortunate to win a cream tea for two at the Waterside Cafe, and it was absolutely delightful. The scones were large and delicious, topped with generous amounts of cream and jam (cream first, as tradition dictates in Devon). We also enjoyed a pot of tea served with a cozy. While we only had the cream tea, we did take a quick look at the lunch menu, which mainly featured fish dishes, fitting for a trout fishery. The prices seemed very reasonable. The cafe is situated by one of the trout ponds, offering a beautiful setting. We enjoyed our food outside on a lovely late summer day, watching the fish jump in the pond. We also purchased some smoked trout fillets from the shop, which were delicious, though the pate was unfortunately sold out. We plan on returning soon and highly recommend this cafe.

We had a wonderful time with John, who taught us how to fish. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. We highly recommend it. Thank you and we look forward to returning.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem and had a wonderful afternoon. The fishing experience was good for adults and perfect for our young children to catch their first fish. The cream tea was delightful. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring we left with some delicious trout to BBQ. Thank you.

We went there for the fishing, but the lake was so full of weed that the two people we met there had given up because of the weed, so we decided not to bother. the gardens however were quite pretty

We were looking for somewhere local to Muddiford to go for a couple of hours. We started with a wander around the lakes and then went in for a sandwich and cream tea. The sandwiches were excellent with lovely granary bread. Scones were exceptional; so fresh and served with jam with fresh strawberries on top. Would definitely recommend a visit here.
