We arrived around 11am with no reso and there was already 6-7 people on the list ahead of us. They let in around 4 groups immediately but after that he advised we return around 1230 or so. We came back at just past noon and were probably seated by 12:15. Service was quick even though they were really busy and the food was really nice, miso soup, pickled veg, excellent rice and a crispy pork cutlet. I’d recommend arri... View all feedback.
What Noel Castañeda doesn't like about Tonkatsu Tamafuji:
Wait time was to long more than 2 hours they are bad with big parties only 2 people get all the service parties more than 4 good luck be ready to wait for a long time! View all feedback.
Great tonkatsu, refills on cabbage and rice. I got the seasoned rice with seaweed. The white miso soup with clam is my go-to favorite. Reminds me of Japan dining. The lines are long, so we always make reservations and be prepared to leave with the smell of cooked tonkatsu in your hair and clothes. They could use more ventilation. Come hungry, they serve big portions, and we usually have to get a take out container.
The front desk guy is very rude, and it is as busy as the other influencer diners which are also overrated.
Wait there over 1 hour with no reservation. The tips to get table sooner, you may go there around 8:00 pm if you don have reservation and don’t want to wait too long. Their food presentation was very good, was like the one we had in Japan. The fresh sesame smells very good while you waiting food and grind it, and tonkatsu was nice cook and tender. Miso soups you can choose white or red miso, white miso was with seaweed and not too salty, which was the serve recommend. For the first time visit, I will recommend order their pork loin tonkatsu, without added any other fancy ingredients.
I have been hear a handful of times. This most recent time was a bit more disorganized. It took 30 mins to get seated from the reservation time my first time there was like a well oiled machine. I am not a huge katsu fan but it was worth it. The staff hustles. The pork tenderloin/shrimp katsu were delicious. The red miso with clams and the seaweed rice are where it's at. Parking in $3 in the underground garage below the restaurant or street park. You will need a reservation months in advance to get in here.
Got Togo. Went around 6 and was able to get our food at 7. Everything super fresh, delicious and crispy even after the drive home. Really wish I had the time on our trip to fully experience the restaurant.
