First time that I have tried this French restaurant with its Japanese chef/proprietor. Heard about it from others. We opted for their 3 course menu option and chose their cream of mushroom soup, special salad, lamb chops and desert with a bottle of recommended Pinot. We thought the portions were just about right, flavorful and service was excellent. Would go back there again. View all feedback.
What jreskd doesn't like about Courtyard Cafe:
OK food, but not for the prices they charge. Foie gras was excellent. The rest of the meal meh. Service was not good at all. Particularly for a supposed five star restaurant. Got the prix fixe menus. After dinner, they promptly delivered the check. We asked what happened to the desest. Oh, I 'll put that order in. A half hour later, and the wine consumed, we finally got desert. The kicker was our guest, who ordered o... View all feedback.
We came and celebrated Anniversary 41 Joseph treated us well. Chef made a nice Vegetarian Menu for Lehua and I enjoyed regular menu with Dover Sole See you Soon
For our anniversary, we wanted something special that we hadn 't done before so we went to Cafe Miro (in Kaimuki) all the way over the mountain from our home in Kailua. It was worth the trip. We had the plaisir menu ... two appetizers, an entree and dessert. We were surprised with a complimentary vichysoisse (I guess an amuse bouche, but it was an ample serving). I had Hokaido scallops and ahi carpaccio as appetizers and a wonderful fresh fish entree. The wine list isn 't extensive, but it was more than adequate. It was a Wednesday night, so it wasn 't crowded. There was only one waiter, but other staff pitched in to serve entrees so service was just great. Overall a memorable evening with wonderful food. We 'll drive allllll the way over the mountain again to enjoy this little treasure.
Never have been disappointed with Chef Kobayashi's dinners. The seafood salad and lamb chops are so tasty. Also the dessert platters with sorbet, cheese cake top off a great meal. Must try restaurant.

Everything was absolutely divine from all the delicious parts of all the courses to the chef and wait staff being more than accommodating with splitting items between the three of us. The flavors and combinations of incredients were incredible and the waiter was a delight.
