Polished decor, live music and frequently praised, attentive servers make this casino-adjacent eatery appealing — but experiences vary widely. Some diners rave about starters, breads and friendly staff, while others report overcooked or greasy mains, soggy desserts, tiny sides and overpriced bills. A stated business-casual dress code is rarely enforced, and casino noise can intrude. Book for atmosphere or a night out, but temper expectations on consistency and value.
Was Kenny Klein at First Turn a mag?
The ambiance was nice, from furniture to lighting to the menus to the table settings. The only two detractors: 1) The distracting noise from the casino floor 2) Obvious lack of dress code for patrons View all feedback.
What Kenny Klein dislikes about First Turn:
After my meal was delivered by someone other than my waitress, she did not check in on me until I was almost finished. I was never offered dessert, either. The restaurant's website states a dress code of business casual, but every time I've visited, including tonight, I have dressed more formally than required. Unfortunately, I noticed many diners wearing not only jeans and t-shirts but also excessively dirty ones. A... View all feedback.

I am giving this place 2 stars because the restaurant was clean from what I could see. And that my friends is the only good thing about it. This is a great place to take older people who can 't handle too much salt or spicy or flavor to their food. So if you have a bus load of seniors, they might love this place. The first rule about BBQ restaurants is if the BBQ isn 't the star, it 's not a good BBQ restaurant. Guess what...This isn 't the best BBQ restaurant. The menu included, chicken tenders and pizza. (What in the world?!? They also had corn fritters, fried green tomatoes and crab cakes. Seriously, crab cakes? We went for my birthday lunch with my in-laws. I ordered the brisket sandwich on texas toast (it normally comes on a roll , Mac-n-cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. The husband ordered pulled pork on texas toast, fries and corn. My SIL ordered the pepperoni pizza. The server wrote everything down and went on her way. None of our orders came on texas toast. I got my husband 's sides on my plate. Ok. They switched the sandwiches, it happens. My SIL got a cheese pizza and in her words, It wasn 't very good pizza. The Mac-n-cheese was BLAND, but creamy(? or at least wet with white-ish sauce. The mashed potatoes were the best part of my lunch. The brisket was wet, tough and not tasty. The pulled pork was also wet. I am not sure what we sauce they use on the meat, but I don 't think it is the same sauce on the table. The husband 's fries were over cooked to the point they were hard. The buttered corn was the equivalent of school lunch corn, over cooked and no flavor. Will I be back? No. it 's not worth spending money on this place.
Visiting Charlottesville, great local place! Live music, scrumptious food, and great service! Not too pricey and very delicious. Corn fritters and honey butter were absolutely amazing! Make sure to ask for their onion ring sauce/dip!!!!
This was our first visit to Barnyard BBQ. We were celebrating his 28 days od sobriety. We ordered the platter for 2, it had four meats, 4 sides and 4 corn fritters with butter. We opted for the collard greens, Mac n cheese, baked beans and potato salad...not bad. I really enjoyed the Brisket
I can't say anything about the food here, hence the two rather than one star rating. My fiance and I had never been here and he was interested in getting ribs so we decided to give it a try. It seems that the few cars in the parking lot should have been a warning. We were seated and received our drinks promptly, we did not know what we wanted to order yet and needed a few more minutes, when our drinks were brought was the last time we saw the waitress. After watching her go bus tables and seeing the staff eating in the kitchen from where we were seated and waiting around 30 minutes for someone to come take our orders we decided to walk out and go to TGI Fridays down the street as it was almost 8:00 at this point. There were a few other people in the restaurant. A couple two booths behind us, the only other people in our section, had to go find someone to bring their bill after they had been done and looking annoyed for some time. I'm not sure how long it was, but when we left, the man was still gone from the table, apparently still trying to get their bill. We'd still like to try this place, but it'll definitely be a take-out situation.
I'm not even sure what to say. Let me start out by saying this has nothing to do with our waitress who was very sweet and it's not her fault. We were the only souls in the restaurant aside from one man at the bar. We waited 50+ minutes for our food. I am a type 1 diabetic and have to take my insulin 15 minutes before I eat. Here I am 15, 30, 45 minutes later and I am plummeting and afraid I am going to end up in the floor unconscious. I decide to go to the bathroom and noticed that people who came 20 minutes after us are halfway through their dinner. Our dinner wasn't great. Both of our sandwiches were supposed to come with a pickle and didn't but of course there was no apology. We had plans to see a movie and were already late or I would've asked for the manager. I don't usually write bad reviews and hope that it's just a fluke or a bad night but.... I've seen other bad reviews about management. I'm writing this review overall to try to help the restaurant learn from the mistakes and warn others not to come there if you have anything to do within 2 hours of arriving. It would be nice to see a response from the owner but I'm not seeing that on other negative reviews.

At one point, I was tempted to leave before even placing my order when a woman walked by in leggings. Overall, my experience was disappointing.

We have ate there 4-5 times. Honestly have not been impressed one time. Spent 155 dollars on a meal I could have gotten at any steak house with as good or better test for a fraction of the cost. I don't mind paying extra for a good meal but can nam3 several other places I can splurge for less than 100 and a much better meal. Bread lacked flavor. Nothing special butter was average at best. Just butter. Had the filet and it was ok. No wow seasoning and a tad dry for 50 bucks. Service has always been outstanding there and the people are very nice but the meal is not worth the money.
The meal was good, but so over priced it left a gaping hole between . And this was a limited menu due to it being new years eve 2023-24 Our server was excellent. Friendly and very astute. She wasn't just there because she was on the schedule, she was there because that was her job and she did it well. Additionally, we were told from bartender, we could only purchase 2 drinks at a time. Multi liquor drinks counted as two so in order to even buy another long Island ice tea I had to step up to the bar and claim that i was the second party to his 2 drink max Although if you roll back security footage, you'll AT LEAST out of corner to the group of preps whom I watched carry drinks back to their table directly from the bar. Look at the footage that shows the blond with her hair in a bun, glitter jacket, carrying drinks by the fists. And yes I can pick the offenders who were held un accountable. We unfortunatelythis underwhelming inpression of the Mardi Gras Resort.
