I ordered takeout dumplings, which are a bit on the expensive side, but believe me, they are absolutely delicious and very filling. I think there's enough for two people, so I’m left with some tasty leftovers! I adore Mongolian food, and this place is fantastic for it! View all feedback.
What Nicholas P dislikes about Arvin:
This restaurant is definitely on my list of places to try, but I have to give them a 1 out of 5 stars because they were closed when I arrived, even though it was during their advertised open hours. There was a sign in the window, but I really wish they had informed customers through their social media. I’ll update my review after my next visit. View all feedback.
I had the fluffy dumplings and a recommended soup, and both were amazing! It did take a little while to arrive, but I would definitely go back.
My husband and I visited this restaurant for a dine-in experience. The owner was very friendly and suggested several dishes for us. We decided to order fried dumplings, boiled (or steamed) beef with root vegetables, and beef soup with steamed noodles. We enjoyed all the dishes, and the quality of the meat was excellent! Each dish was priced around $17, and the portion sizes were generous. As a complimentary treat for dine-in customers, we received salty milk tea. I had Mongolian food during my travels in Central Asia, and I believe this place offers an authentic experience. We will definitely be back to try more dishes!
The service was outstanding, as it is a family-owned establishment, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The prices were quite reasonable, and the portion sizes were enormous, making it easy to save leftovers for lunch over the next couple of days. I ordered the milk tea, which I would rate 5/5. It was served very hot and was quite different from the typical milk tea; this version resembled a saltier broth perfect for a chilly day. At just $1 per person, you certainly get a generous amount. Next, I tried the huushuur, traditional Mongolian-style fried beef dumplings, which I would also rate 5/5. This dish quickly became my favorite! Be cautious when biting into them, as they are extremely hot. I recommend holding them upright to prevent the flavorful juices from spilling out. The buuz, traditional steamed dumplings, also earned a 5/5 rating. They looked a bit different from the dumplings most people are used to, as seen in my pictures with their unique folding style. The meat inside was incredibly tasty and juicy. I also sampled the sharsan ovchuu, which is a dish of fried brisket meat with vegetables and steamed flatbread, and I would rate it 5/5 as well. I suggest enjoying the meat with the fat for added flavor. It comes with potatoes and carrots, and you can tear the flatbread into pieces to accompany everything else. Lastly, I tried the tavan tsuliin shol, a sheep offal soup, also earning a 5/5. Just a heads-up: it’s made with intestines, so if you have a weak stomach, you might want to skip this one. However, if you're feeling adventurous, it’s one of the best soups I’ve ever tasted. It contains blood sausage, which complemented the broth beautifully. I usually dislike blood sausage after trying it in Puerto Rico and Spain, but I absolutely loved this version!

I ordered the traditional beef dumplings, while my husband opted for the flat beef dumplings. This turned out to be a mistake, as the portions were enormous—each platter could easily feed six people! So, if you plan on dining here, think family-style! That said, both types of dumplings were delicious, though we both ended up preferring each other’s selection. The traditional dumplings reminded us of small panzerotti filled with beef and savory broth. The flat dumplings resembled thicker savory crepes, filled with a thin beef patty and without any broth. We were recommended three sauces: ketchup, a unique soy sauce with lovage, and sriracha. We tried all three, and surprisingly, the ketchup paired wonderfully with both dumplings—much better than we expected. Don't dismiss it; give it a chance! Traditionally, these dumplings are eaten with your hands, but they provided us with forks and knives, which was helpful since everything was too hot to touch. They mentioned that the high temperature is beneficial for your heart. I was curious about their version of milk tea, which was unlike any I had tried before. Having heard about it on travel shows, I expected something savory, much like broth. To picture the flavor, imagine a mug of hot water, add a few creamers, and finish with a good amount of table salt—it captures the essence of the taste. I’m glad I tried it just to understand what it was all about. We took home two boxes of dumplings to share with family members. Knowing the portion sizes now, I would definitely return. I even thought it would be a great option for small gatherings. Instead of ordering sandwiches or pizza, you could serve these dumplings for something unique and still feed a lot of people!
