Too bad I only knew of emers since 4 years ago. Emers is an institution at makati cinema square , a tradition to the 50s above.it gets full every single day, lunch or dinner. Has a steady loyal following amidst tremendous competition. My staples: oyster misua, cuapao they are famous for this), steamed dumpling I love the sweet vinegar dip with this) and chopsuey rice. Very reasonable to the max! If your food is good , your quality is maintained, there's value for money, no reason for Emers not to survive comfortably and so long......
I'm probably not being subjective here but the novelty of this place added to the taste of their food classic chinese filipino. Ordered the all time combo of lomi and cua pao and they tasted really nice.
It's been awhile since I've written anything here but I'm surprised that this place had such a poor rating... Don't get me wrong, it's fairly skanky looking and low down and shady, however this place left quite an impression on me really. It serves some basic Chinese food that's been Filipinized I suppose. The prices are fairly cheap and the taste is not quite superb but I would say it's quite good. It becomes great due to the price in all honesty. I went there with the family to eat a few times and since our family consists of about 15 people my siblings, significant others and the kids, well you can imagine we are hard pressed to find a place that is within budget for all of us with the way we eat. We were happy to be introduced to Emers. Apparently a lot of people eat here during workdays as the prices are good as mentioned above and the food is quite tasty. Albeit that, as I often passed and ignored this place as I went about my usual business in MCS, I was finally able to eat there. Normally places that don't offer filtered water is a cause for alarm for me, but I figured I'd brave it and see what all the hooplah was about. As soon as I opened the menu, I was surprised by the amount of options they had. It was a Chinese resto which I would have never guessed given the name, but I was pleased to see classics such as the corn soup with chicken strips and sweet and sour pork. We proceeded to ordering and I was surprised they don't have a large bowl for soup or rice, unlike most Chinese restaurants that serve family style. It was per bowl, much to our dismay. Given the prices however we powered through. I ordered some crispy noodles with chicken and of course corn soup. The soup was nice and thick, served very hot, enough to burn my tongue a little, just the way I like it. The noodles were smothered in sauce which removed some of the crunch but it was rather memorable for me. It had a nice rich sauce that had a lot of flavor. Although neither really completely stood out, I'd have to say they didn't disappoint whatsoever! So if you are in the place, please give it a try but take it with a grain of salt yeah? Don't expect gourmet food, but expect to be pleasantly surprised by this quiet little Chinese restaurant.
I've only been to Toyo twice but everything about the place always seems... perfect? Never thought I'd use the word to describe a restaurant but when everything is done flawlessly, I guess that's just the right word for it. Great food, very friendly staff, great space. <3 There's so much more to be said about Toyo! Will definitely go back. <3
