Just had a lunch date there this afternoon. I love Thai food and being that it's my first time there I thought I'd order my usual go to dishes that every Thai restaurant should have: For appetizers I ordered some shrimp cakes and papaya salad. I thought the shrimp cakes were good. You know they didn't skimp on shrimp . I would have preferred the sauce to have more acidity since it's deep fried but that's just my preference. The papaya salad was excellent. It went well with the shrimp cakes. It had the acidity I was looking for. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough of it. I could have ordered more but I wanted to try their other dishes. For starch we got pad thai. I don't have much to say about it except that it was delicious. For our protein I wanted to be a bit adventurous and try something new. So we got their soft shell crab. It was battered and deep fried to a crisp. so good. Great food and great ambiance, over all an excellent experience and I'll definitely come back for more.

We recently just tried People's Palace in Greenbelt, and that experience was nice but needed to compare it with something in the same league, and what better place than Basil. Dealgrocer informed me about the availability of vouchers for Basil so we got two (total worth Php1000, this was June this year). When we got there, it just literally opened for dinner so we were the first to pick the nicest table. After a couple of hours, a few guests trickled down. Usually, there's this kind of magic that me and The Missus have that after we enter an eating place, people seem to drop in suddenly and gets filled up. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. Anyway, many of the dishes they offer are good for sharing. We got the Catfish Salad for starters, Tom Yum, Chicken with Basil, Shrimp Paste Rice for mains, and the Affogato and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. The food we ate reminded us of the humid streets of Bangkok, the kind of good food that feels strange to be served in a swanky air conditioned place such as Basil's. For us, these two joints (People's Palace and Basil) will be our go to places for Thai food, not just for the taste, but for the convenience. Up: really nice interiors, considering it's part of a converted warehouse; excellent service; food is nice, but not sure if they used Thai basil instead of holy basil on the food that day Down: price is definitely not for everyday grub. But I guess it's worth it.

Basil is another great choice if you're looking for a restaurant serving good Thai cuisine. My favorites here are the tom yum soup, chicken pandan, pad thai, pomelo salad and the mango sticky rice. The interior of the place is also very nice and has a cozy ambiance.

Basil is a restaurant that serves great Thai cuisine. I love the ambiance and interior design of this place. The food here are also great. Must try are the pomelo salad, tom yum soup, soft shell crab, chicken green curry, bagoong rice and the sticky mango rice. Prices are somehow okay. This will be a great place to check out if you are craving for Thai dishes.
