We were disappointed with our dinner at Chez Davia. The service was not good. It started out fine, the server was helpful and answered questions in English if necessary. Then things went downhill. There were only 2 of us and they kept giving me my partner’s order. We also waited forever to have our appetizer plates cleared. The food was disappointing. The rabbit terrine was very tough. The clam broth for the artichokes was lovely, but didn’t make the struggle with the artichokes (nice but not amazing) worth eating. The stuffed cabbage was described as rich but turned out to be somewhat bland and they left the cherry pits in. Unfortunately the tables are so close that if you have loud or unpleasant neighbours it can make what would otherwise be a nice atmosphere unpleasant. We had two obnoxious women sitting beside us who were loud and liked to examine and comment on the food everyone was eating at the tables around them as if no one could hear them. Not to mention their disturbing topics of conversation which it was virtually impossible to ignore. This wasn’t Chez Davia’s fault but it did spoil the atmosphere. With the unpleasant table neighbours, the poor service and the disappointing food we didn’t stay for dessert. I’m giving Chez Davia 3 stars because the atmosphere could have been nice but the service and food deserve only a 3.
This is our second time dining at Chez Davia. We were there in April 2024 and loved everything about our meal so scheduled a return visit this past week when we were back in Nice. This time was a different story. We didn't enjoy the ravioli or apple tart tatin. The asparagus, linguini with green beans and pesto, and lemon tart were very good.
