Sometimes it's nice to try something new / different, which is exactly what I did at this place. I feel sorry for owners of a new place in Newtown, as the competition is FIERCE. And if your place isn't "hipster" enough, it might struggle. But the service here was lovely, and the food was more than delicious, and at reasonable prices as well. I'd be quite happy to dine here again. It IS good to do something different now and again. Of course, it's hard for somewhere to really stand out from the crowd when it's such a common cuisine such as Chinese / Asian, but this place is very clean, well lit, nicely appointed, and had good food. Try it!

As an expat from HK, my favourite Chinese Restaurant in Sydney is The Golden Century, but it's way out of my price range. I heard a rumour that the chef from GC is cooking at Old Streets Newtown. I went there today for a lunch special and was not disappointed. I had chicken chow mein and my partner had beef and black bean, both delicious and authentic. I highly recommend this place, ps service was fast and staff were very polite.
