I absolutely love this sushi restaurant! The quality of the food is always top-notch, and the service is exceptional. I highly recommend trying the tacos and popcorn shrimp as appetizers - the fresh and crunchy textures complement each other perfectly. The menu is extensive with a lot of variety. I personally enjoyed the bold flavors of the dragon roll, while my boyfriend loved the fresh and slightly spicy kick of th... View all feedback.
What mrdom doesn't like about Japone Sushi (Newtown):
The train wasn't going at 1:20pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty...I'd just walked past Sushi Train up the road and they were packed so I don't what the problem was here. The upshot was that I had to order off the menu. You can order the train-sized serves of sushi, sashimi and basic rolls but the prices were higher than any other trains that I can think of. Fancy rolls were only sold as the whole thing... View all feedback.
The food is fresh and inventive so much more than the standard fare you find at most Japanese places. The sashimi is beautifully presented, the options for different rolls extensive and tasty. We love the Granny salmon, Tuna tataki, Sashimi tacos, and miso eggplant amongst others. Its a casual spot with murals and music. Give it a try you won't regret it!
Popped in here before going to the theatre. We had three sharing sushi rolls and a sashimi plate. The rolls were seriously delicious and the sashimi plate was so beautifully presented it was a shame to eat it. Friendly, quick service too would definitely recommend.
I've been to a few Japanese restaurants and none beats this little gem in Newtown Sydney. Authentic, creative, modern cuisine all fit the bill here. Amazing quality food prepared with love and attention to detail. It's a must try! I recommend popcorn prawn, sashimi tacos and golden dragon roll. The sauces are to die for!!! Check out the pictures!
Fancy rolls were only sold as the whole thing or in a set so you'd be having a single order as your meal or sharing among a group (I got a set that combined sushi and rolls and reduced the price a fair bit, so look at them). And then it took 25 minutes for the food to come out. They have a decent alcohol list but no tap beer. The fish was good quality, maybe the best in Newtown, but the whole experience was poor value.
I came for a dinner with my girlfriend the food was good and the menu has a lot of choices. Just a little bit disappointed about the local.
