There's nothing better on a weekend than calling ahead to pick up Franks pizza as soon as you arrive at Sunday River. By the way, Franks even had a line in the Olympics! The staff is friendly, and the pizza is excellent.

In fact, there... read more My friend and I ordered dirty martinis, but as the bartender started to prepare them, she discovered there were fruit flies in the Tito's vodka. In fact, there were so many that she suggested we choose a different vodka, so we went with Absolute instead. By that time, she had run out of olive juice, so the martinis ended up being primarily vodka. She even mentioned needing to strain the liquor to get the bugs out! Straining bugs from your booze? That's not something a customer wants to hear. If that’s your routine, it’s better to keep it to yourself. It was quite unappetizing. When I finally received my martini, surprise, surprise—there were still bugs in it. Two more fruit flies had made their way into my drink. I'm not picky; I know that fruit flies can appear at home, but having worked in bars, I also know that properly capping your liquor bottles can prevent this issue. I've seen bars face serious health code violations for similar problems. To top it off, our martinis were nearly $10 each—perhaps the flies contributed to the cost? The bartender also mentioned a Bloody Mary bar for Sunday brunch, which sounds like a great idea, but I think I’ll pass on this place for that. I really enjoy Bloody Marys, but I’d rather avoid the risk of finding extra protein in the form of flies. It’s harder to tell the difference in mixed drinks. While I can’t comment on the food, judging by the cleanliness of their liquor bottles, I’ll likely steer clear. I might stop by for a beer if I’m visiting my friends, since it's conveniently located down the hall from where I'm staying, but I probably won’t return for anything else.
