I had the chicken curry roti; it was delicious and reminded me of the great rotis I had in Kensington Market decades ago. Great flavour, soft flour rotis with the ground chickpeas between, a generous portion of tender chicken. I will definitely order from hem again and will try out other items on their menu. What Sluggerrouge doesn't like about A Taste Of The Islands:
I ordered takeout from this restaurant. The Jerk Chicken and pork were perfectly spicy and cooked just right. The portion sizes were decent overall, but the greens were lacking. The side of fresh vegetables and coleslaw that came with our dinner entrees were extremely small, only giving us two bites worth. The salad entree felt more like a side dish in terms of size. Very generous and authentic curried goat with rice and peas and coleslaw was delightful. Brought home a mild and a spicy patty for breakfast should have bought more, what a treat. Thank you .Will be back soon with friends
Today, I visited this restaurant for the first time. I used to travel to Parkdale occasionally to dine at a West Indian restaurant when my son lived there. The food at that restaurant was excellent, so I had high expectations based on the reviews I read on this site. I was not disappointed at all. I ordered the goat roti, which was delicious. I had a pleasant conversation with Richard, who was friendly and checked on me multiple times to see if I needed anything else. The service was prompt, and the restaurant was very clean. If you are craving West Indian spices, I highly recommend A Taste of the Islands. And if you live in York Region, there is no need to travel all the way to Toronto.

Proper jerk pork and curry goat. I would eat here a million times over. Absolutely delish...and that’s coming from a Caribbean person!
