Chan’s, once a beloved pillar of the East End dining scene, now finds itself at a crossroads, as recent changes have left patrons longing for the quality and service they once cherished. Many diners express disappointment over skyrocketing prices and a diminished focus on authentic flavors, particularly in takeaway orders. While some loyal customers still champion its warm service and classic dishes—like the Singaporean Fried Rice and crispy beef—others lament the loss of the restaurant's original charm. Despite its storied history, the evolving experience at Chan’s raises questions about its future in the ever-competitive landscape of Chinese cuisine.
I recently ordered takeout from this restaurant, so I can't speak much on the service, but the food was delivered by the restaurant staff and the delivery person was very polite. The food was packaged in a nice cardboard box with a silver foil cover to keep it hot. The Hot Sour soup was the best I've ever had, with a perfect balance of flavors and fresh ingredients. All the other dishes we ordered were excellent as well. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely order from this restaurant. It's nice to continue my family tradition as my Dad used to dine here in the 1960s.

Lovely food, great service, definitely care about what they put out. We're late to finding this spot. Clearly an established pillar of the community already. We tried this place over a month ago and have already become regulars! Their Chan's special, their duck, honey wings and everything else we've ordered so far has been great. What's a lovely touch is they wrap our food in a box with foil on top to ensure the food stays warm, never seen that anywhere else and demonstrates the level in which they care about the food they're delivering. The staff there are lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Glad we have found this place and will continue to stay regulars.
Lovely service and food,sad it is stopping the restaurant part
I have been coming since primary school. It’s our family go to restaurant. My favourite of all time. Portions sizes are good tastes amazing never disappoint. The service is with a smile plus they save your number extra service. Highly recommend.
