Draft House - Newark
Draft House
Description
An unpretentious, long-running diner in Newark serves cheap, satisfying Midwestern comfort food—burgers, cube steak, pork tenderloin and hearty sides—alongside a full bar and reasonably priced beer. Portion-friendly and reliably tasty, it’s a hole-in-the-wall favorite with friendly staff, a working grill and a loud jukebox that adds charm. Expect clean, casual surroundings and occasional slow service during busy or short-staffed periods; some sides are pricier than the mains. Not a gourmet destination, but perfect for budget-minded diners seeking classic, nostalgic fare.

I decided to try this place on a whim because of the affordable prices. For what you’d pay for a fast food burger, you can get a slightly better one here. The beer is reasonably priced as well. However, the service left something to be desired; I had to wait about 15 minutes for a second drink after finishing my first, even with only four customers in the restaurant. While the burgers are inexpensive, the sides are a bit pricey—home fries cost $4, and that's without any toppings.
My dinner was excellent. The flavors were fantastic. I enjoyed the cube steak topped with grilled onions and peppers, accompanied by home fries and a tossed salad.
Are you sick of paying $15! for a hamburger? This place is for you. It’s been an institution for over 50 years. It features diner-style food with a full-bar.Food is delicious and prices are cheap. The kitchen can take awhile if they’re super busy. Won’t impress foodies, but a solid Midwest meal.My only boomer comment: the jukebox is extremely loud!
