This is a great place. We arrived at a quiet time on New Year's day and the place filled up while we ate a wonderful meal of excellent sushi and sashimi with wine and green tea. The servers were attentive and helpful with suggestions about which specials might appeal based on our other preferences--which proved quite accurate. We had a great time! View all feedback.
What AlexL doesn't like about Blue Ribbon Sushi Grill Financial District:
I booked it based on excellent reviews and the place was disappointing. Apart from nice personnel and decent feel, everything else left much to be desired. Both sushi and sashimi were bland, and in comparison with our favourite sushi places were not as fresh. Overall it was too much for the level of food we received. View all feedback.
I have been to Blue Ribbon near Columbus Circle. Many times and love it. Although Columbus Circle has a larger menu the chicken wings are worth a trip down to the Financial District. Service was a bit better than the uptown location. Fish was fresh, rice was the best and the soy sauce had an excellent thickness. We had the wings, hamachi tar tar and scallops appetizer., many sushi pieces and sushi rolls. I think you can not miss with anything on this menu.
Our server was very attentive to my sonny gluten allergy. very pleased with his love for detail.
Overall ambience is good, but we had a misunderstanding with the way they cooked the meat and confusion with the order. They rushed us to decide which dessert we wanted (as a last call), even tho there were people still eating main courses. The sushi selection was normal/ok not as tasty but still fresh.
Great sushi ! We took the blue Ribbon Plater for 4, it was really good.
Blue Ribbon is the best sushi in NYC. Always a winner.
