What Ana Fritsch doesn't like about Black's Barbecue New Braunfels:
Yes, it was good, but this is gross advertising !! There can only be ONE Black's Original and that's the Lockhart location. Yes, I know Austin has one, but that meat is trucked in everyday from Lockhart, so that's acceptable . This location makes it's own BBQ so it can't be an Black's Original. Yes, this is splitting hairs, but we're talking Texas BBQ and there's no room for error here. The brisket was extremely mois... View all feedback.
This is, without a doubt, the best BBQ I've ever experienced. The ribs were served hot, and the meat fell right off the bone. The crust was perfect, and the service was excellent. I absolutely loved it and would want to go back every day, though it is a bit pricey!
We happened upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It seems to be quite popular. I ordered a quarter of a smoked brisket and a quarter of a beef brisket, along with potato salad and green beans. The meat was delicious, while the potato salad was standard but enjoyable. However, the green beans needed some seasoning as they were quite bland. The BBQ sauce provided on the table was thin and lacked flavor, so I opted to eat the meat without it.
The barbecue here is quite decent—definitely satisfies that craving, although I can make a better version at home. To be fair, I tend to be rather picky when it comes to barbecue, so keep that in mind. For most people, this is likely among the best options available. The beef rib could have been cooked a little longer; the fat was nearly rendered perfectly, but just missed the mark. However, it was seasoned wonderfully. Unfortunately, the brisket was dry and lacked much flavor, while the jalapeño cheese sausage was also bland and dry. I really enjoyed the sauce, though I was disappointed that I had to rely on it. The chopped barbecue sandwich was pretty good. The coleslaw was outstanding, and the potato salad was spot-on. The mac and cheese was quite nice, and the cream corn was excellent. The restaurant itself was clean—no sticky surfaces—and the restrooms were well-maintained. Given how hot it was outside, it was a relief that the place was well air-conditioned.
Great moist chicken. Had the half chicken and it was excellent. Side of beans. My wife had the lean brisket which was great also. Their ice tea is one of the best.
We had heard of blacks and were in the opposite and decided to try. we didn't know until we were there that it was where the rudy was earlier! we ordered brisket, which was very delicate and tasteful and also ordered some sausages that was also very good. our daughter wanted the porridge, which was very tender, and full of taste. for the sides we have mais, pinto-bottoms and Macn cheese. the framed mais was very creamy and tasty and we loved the pinto bean and how they were seasoned! the mac n cheese was just ok. they had packed a lot of broth slices, pimples and wobble, but not the variety of seasoned, which rudy had with jalepenos, bananenpfeffern etc., so that was disappointing. also the BBQ sauces were only meh. to the luck were all the meat we had, very full of taste on own faust and did not need BBQ sauce!
